I'm a big fan of the HD-DVD format. It is cheaper. When you look at owning hundreds of movies, That is a big saving. So we can own more, and buy movies we might not usualy buy. Hence more movies make more money...easy smart and logical.
I work for a high profile retail game/movie chain. The damage Sony has done to their repuatation can never be regained. Their attitude and arrogance is even brining down the people that support them. I own an HD-DVD player and will NEVER buy into blu-ray. Anyone that supports blu-ray is hurting themselves and their profits. I highly recomend to atleast support both formats untill there is a clear winner. I, like many others, refuse to be forced into a new format (PS3 and blu-ray). With the xbox 360 i have a CHOICE to buy hd-dvd and i choose to.
Hollywood is acting like HD DVD is the African American and Blu-Ray is the White Supremicists. Just go ahead and put your movies on both formats and make your money, you dumb asses.
The reasonable evolution is CD - DVD - HD DVD. It seems that Blu-Ray is a way too costly mutant. No one will pay the price of that technology. The Sony went too far with it, and the more he insist on it, the more his loss will be.
HD DVD makes alot of sense.. even those who do not approve of the dual format discs you essentially have todays technology DVD coupled with a future technology HD DVD. Two formats in one. Disc becomes portable between two DVD players.
Sony needs to realize that they are repeating past mistakes, (UMD anyone?). Blue Ray supporting companies should try going neutral on a few worthy titles and see just how much more money is to be had in the HD DVD market
I say SONY STOP trying to force people into a corner. You tried this with you UMD format with the PSP. Now you try to force people in the gaming world with this PS3 with Blue-Ray. You have showed the gaming world little respect by trying to force them into this they made you millions and you slap them in the face. You should have made it a option. If this format losses they are stuck with PS3 with a useless BLUE-RAY. Just like the people got stuck with the old BETA players. You notice the sales of the PS2 and figured hey get at least half the the old PS2 owners to buy the new PS3 and you have a winning format. There are at least over 100 million owners of PS2 half of that is 50 million you thought it was a sure thing.
Xbox 360 HD DVD player add-on is selling out everywhere. These are definitely for movie viewing . While the PS3 has Blue-Ray, no one knows if they're using it for movies and not just for gaming.
HD-DVD is way better then Blu-Ray in terms of quality and isn't that what the HD era is all about? Sony's batting .000 with their proprietary formats, why continue to support them?
I've been doing alot of research and HD rules hands down. Cheaper players/movies and better quality (so says the reviews) and HD DVD's are cheaper to manufacture so we all win. HD 'TIL DEATH!!!
When you have both formats and refuse to buy one in favor of the other that should speak volumes. You are shooting yourselves in the foot by not releasing HD-DVD formats. I have one thing to say to those of you who refuse to support the format, "Betamax".
HD DVD one format for all. Blue ray is over prices and way to much of a gamble. HD-DVD all the way. I feel sorry for all the stores that have blue ray. major losses
Sony, please realize that the Blu-ray technology is too expensive and will only divide the market for a longer time. HD-DVD will eventually win this war, so accept it now.
i will not be buying anything from any studio that only releases on blu ray. Lions gate i love ya but looks liek netflix is the way to go until they back the correct one.
Sony, please start making your movies in HD DVD format...ur killing me over here!! Also, please stop using MPEG2. PLEASE!!! GO HD DVD!!!!! NOTHING CAN BEAT IT! Fox, stop being an idiot and join HD DVD!!!!
I am so impressed by HD DVD I can't help but buy any movie that remotely interests me to see the amazing quality, because the image quality has been going so steady for each title I've bought. I own as of the moment 12 HD DVDs and not a single one let me down. Blu Ray on the other hand, has any one seen the Fifth Element on that? I rest my case.
