I have had my HD-DVD player for over 4 months now and have a movie collection of 30 movies. I would love to add to this list with your movies! Please support HD-DVD. With an investment of thousands in HD-DVD, I will not be switching to BluRay and would appreciate if you let the consumers decide which format to purchase.
I support HD DVD 100%. I will not support a format that is being backed by the same company that brought you such awesome formats as UMD, MiniDisc & Beta.
I can watch all of the disney titles I want on my HD-DVD player via standard DVD. I would prefer they be in high-def.. but not enough to justify paying for more expensive Blu-Ray equipment that has gotten worse reviews. Blu-ray is theoretically better.. but I am not buying stuff with theoretical money. If studios prefer the copy protection of Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.. then they need to be leaning heavily on the player manufacturers to get a $120 blu-ray player to market FAST... or they are going to be spending a lot of money on copy-protected disks that no-one is buying.
I support Both, but feel Bluray and HD DVD were both rushed and both need revising. There should not be a war, Bluray should have been perfected before release as it holds better storage ability. The whole thing is a mess and they should both be stopped, and fixed and 1 chosen. they should recall all products and fix this mess.
What good is my new soon-to-be-FCC-mandated HDTV if I can't afford a high definition DVD player or Disks for it? Consumers need an appropriately priced solution. Movie studios PLEASE, LET US CHOOSE what format we want to buy our disks in. Only then will there be ACTUAL competition in the High Definition DVD Format Wars!
i believe that they should release Disney Movies on Hd-DVD format because most families that have kids won't spend close to 700 or more for a Blu-ray player most families can't afford it with Hd-DVD players going down in price the average family can afford it but can't afford Blu-Ray thereFore Disney give us your movies because you will sell alot more in going to this format over Blu-Ray.
Working in a mid to high end electronics store, both BD and HDDVD have been hard sells. It's not because they don't look great or because consumers don't want to squeeze the best performance out of their equipment, but because no one wants to be a loser. HDDVD discs have been almost consistently higher quality (even when output at 1080i!), are more affordable, and having toyed with the latest generation player, are more consumer friendly. Stop pushing BD and settle with HDDVD so we ALL can start making more money!
Both formats are fine with me, I just happen to own an HD-DVD player and would like to see films released on both. C'mon don't hog Terminator 2, share it with all of us.
HD-DVD is a great format and should be accepted by all studios as the ONLY format for high definition material. I will not support Blu-Ray as it does not seem to provide any benefits to the consumer. HD-DVD is the future for home movie viewers. Blu-Ray is this generation's BETAMAX.
HD DVD is providing a superior product and should have every movie studio backing it.Sony is the king of hype.Blue Rays picture quality cant't hold a candle to HD DVD.This format war is just going to confuse consumers and turn them off to HD all together. The only thing Blue Ray can do now is try and make both formats lose because they know they are losing.P.S.: Sign this petition and don't buy a PS3!!!
After Sony's repeated failure to launch successful media formats for the past three decades, how could you be foolish enough to support another one of theirs? Please drop your support for Blu Ray. A format war is confusing for consumers and it will disrupt studio profit.
I too am old enough to remember BetaMax. I will not own a BluRay. I do however own an HDDVD player thanks to the Xbox expansion. We need more titles, now!
HD DVD is the future, don' let Sony try and force another one if its proprietary formats, remember betamax, mini discs and SACD. Above all HD-DVD is better
HD DVD should be the only format available. This entire "format war" is a major inconvenience to customer's and is unfair to those who have already made investments.
Some of these studios hold the rights to some of the greatest movie series ever(star wars, alien, the james bond films),sony and there cronies are seriously having a laugh if they think i personally would pay nearly double for a blu-ray player compared to HD-DVD the sooner these studios realise that releasing on both formats will be benficial to them the quicker we will get some truly excellent films on HD-DVD
Lower prices and the same result for the eyes. 30GB of Capacity is enought. HD-DVD is the winner for me. Moreover, Sony's choices about DRM are a menace to our rights as consumers. Sony deserves to lose. Long live HD-DVD!
Sony can keep their spyware and their BluRay to themselves. I used to be a huge supporter, but they are forcing flawed and overhyped product on the unsuspecting.
I own an hd-dvd player and i would be very upset without major movie studio support because sony has tricked you into thinking it is better for the consumer. It is in fact not. If anything this war will hurt both the consumer and movie studios so atleast support both.
HD-DVD is a reconizable name to the normal consumer that isn't tech savy. HD-DVD is the natural upgrade from DVD. Most people don't understand what blu-ray is or why sony thinks it's better. It's not about tech specs it's about price and ease. That's what hd-dvd is.
HD DVD is a better format for the consumer. Blueray support is being bought and manufactured and should be put to a stop. The public is who decides on a format not the corporations.
