I have both and HD-DVD is quicker, clearer, has more options, and definitly cheaper. Its obvious, HD for movies, Bluray for large storage and data backup!!
Stop supporting Sony’s mission to 'rule the world'...Sony's ego is the cause of their proprietary formats failing. Blu-Ray will suffer the same demise. Start releasing your movies in HD-DVD now!
I will not buy blu ray discs. I will only buy HD DVD discs. If the studios make the leap to HD DVD I will buy without a doubt at least 5 movies a month
The quality on blu ray is horrible. I would love to see movies in HD DVD with the quality that is being displayed right now. The more studios that support HD DVD means the more HD DVDs I will buy.
The Quality on HD DVD is excellent and I would love to watch more movies on it. The more studios that launch titles for HD DVD and the more I will buy HD DVD movies!
hd dvd has the quality and performance to knock the socks off blu-ray. blu-ray is a good quality format nonetheless but for the type of money they want u to spend it is safer and a better bang for your buck to go with hd dvd!!!!! hd dvd ftw!!!!!!!!!!
HD-DVD is being the victim of Sony trying to unfairly win the next-generation format war. They are doing this now because they have lost so many format wars in the past.
HD-DVD has been proven better, so why not support it?
I agree with this statement, and think that these studios should put their support into both if not exscusivly to HD DVD. Plus I would like to see the Saw movies on HD DVDs
Being that I have an xbox 360 and plan on getting the hd dvd player for it, i must also note that I plan on getting a PS3. It really would not matter to me, but I would definitely prefer to see one format, and after hearing that porn is only going to be on hd dvd, it is almost common sense that hd dvd will be the winner, such is the reason sony lost with betamax. So in conclusion, let's get it over with now and declare hd dvd the clear winner and rightful king of the HD era.
HD-DVD is the next gen. I have no idea why Sony had to go through all of this crap and problems just to get the blue-ray player out for 2 to 3 times the price of an HD-DVD player?!! Why don't they get that HD-DVD has better quality and if they've invested on HD-DVD's they would've gotten super great sales!
I Purchased A Toshiba HD-A1,For Less Than Half Of What I Would Have To Pay For The Cheapest Blue-Ray Player.I Have A Large Collection Of LD's,So I Have A Lot Of LD's(800+)That I Want To Replace With HD-DVD's.Especially One From Disney-"RocketMan".
I run a production facility in California. The need for a standard is... pretty clear. I just spec'd a client for rental equipment to display a 1080i HD presentation at a trade show. We were originally going to use a PowerMac, and a large HD display. After going over how many variables were involved and not wanting to rack the brains of the people setting up the booth at the show, we opted to output our final product to HD DVD via DVD Studio Pro and buy a Hitachi HD DVD player for $500. For the cost of renting a Mac powerful enough to render the video on a large display for 3 days, we now own a player we can repurpose for future events, the client saves money, and we all win. I love Sony's equipment and use their broadcast monitors and cameras, but I can't justify a bloated format here. Why does one need a 60GB disk to display an HD movie? I personally don't give a rat's ass about interactive DVD's just yet, and when the time comes, and they find their niche .. we'll upgrade. For now, it's all about pictures and sound, and BluRay just doesn't stand out enough to pay TWICE the cost for media and players.
Sony, you fucked up.
Enjoy the 1+ billion dollar loss. And, Happy New Year.

HD-DVD has the name brand that everyone can understand, it's relatively cheap, and it has cleaner pictures than Blu-Ray (based on all examples I have seen).
I myself own the hd dvd attachment for xbox360 and also own a ps3. And have seen the differences, not only does hd dvd look better but you get more for your buck. And I hate the fact that as a consumer I forced to chose a format because more companies are backing blu ray. Sony has always tryed to push a format on to the consumer.
