At first being pretty much neutral (and confused) regarding the format war, HD-DVD has proven to me to be the superior format in terms of value and quality. Option is a word which describes really well the format. Cheap entry in the HD format if you have a 360, and if you don't, Toshiba's A2 and XA2 players are not only affordable (especially the A2), but are absolutely breathtaking in terms of quality. What HD-DVD has done is exactly what the HD-DVD camp has said they would do. I have yet to see the same thing with the Blu-Ray format.
To all of those studios releasing content in Blue Ray format only - what a shame. There is money to be made with HD DVD. Once again, Sony is attempting to strangle consumers with their proprietary technology - but this time made sure they made it hard for people to CHOOSE for themselves by securing catalogues of title and entering the studio/production business. Shame on you Sony.
I haven't been impressed with Blu-Ray's video quality, but I have been impressed with HD-DVDss video quality. If Blu-Ray wins, I'll just stick with regular DVD (and keep watching my HD-DVD movies, of course).
Just supported the HD DVD by buying a Toshiba player and the first 5 movies. Let us see some support from the studios thanks. The release flow of movies has been slow after the New Year.
HD-DVD has the same or better picture than Blu-ray. The players are less expensive and so it has the potential to really take off if there was more studio support
HD-DVD is the only format supported by the DVD forum as the next generation replacement for DVD. Blu-Ray is still proprietary, as well as much more expensive to the end user. HD-DVD looks & sounds better for 1/3 to 1/2 of the price for the player, and 20% less per disc. Get a clue Disney & Fox.
HD format is the cheaper of the two and I see no visible difference between it and Blu-Ray without equipment I can't afford anyway. HD-DVD needs to move forward at the current or better price point to get more of it into the hands of the average citizen.
I would like to see a larger support for the HD-DVD format. There are many of us consumers that prefer HD-DVD because of its price advantage, and in addition because it offers many of us the same picture quality as Blu-ray players, which as of now cost almost twice more than HD-DVD players.
Can we not sue the other studios (fox, etc) for discrimination? coz we choose HD-DVD so we get treated differently? Only as a last resort though lol ;)
Warner Bros. Studios: Don't hold up HD-DVD releases just because BR technology is not ready for prime time--that's BS!
We want the Matrix, Blade Runner, Shawshank, Harry Potter, etc. on HD-DVD today!
HD-DVD has started very well in good old germany. So why Fox, Buena Vista & Lionsgate do not care about my (our) money/euros ? Pls. release your Top Titles asap on HD-DVD.
I get very disappointed when I anticipate a new movie coming out to be in HD, then it's not. I bought the X-Box 360 and the HD DVD player and am disappointed in the selection of movies available. I will never purchase a Bluray player because of the cost and because I've already invested in a good system. For all of the HD owners out there, putting all movies out in this format is a must!
Please release movies on hd dvd, the overall quality and sales are much better and the hd dvd base is much stronger than blu ray. Remember what happened to betamax!!
Disney plz come to HD DVD. It is cheaper for me and i want my kids to watch Disney films on it. There is no way im getting a Blu Ray player since its so expensive.
Love Hd DVD. Toshiba keeps there promises and so does microsoft. Hd dvd has better picture then Blu Ray. I own a HD DVD player and will like all kinds of movie studios to suppourt HD DVD Such as Fox and especially Diseny. Sorry but Im sticking to HD DVD. Even if I have less Movies.
HD DVD is better then Blu Ray in Picture and features. Also I trust it more then Blu Ray. Xbox 360 HD Dvd player is great for any Xbox 360 Owner. I suppoert HD DVD Period, no its, ands, or buts.
