Higher Quality High Definition Playback and A/V product of the year, as seen in Sound & Vision magazine, less technical issues, HD DVD/DVD combo capability, the list goes on. The question is now when will Disney, Fox & Lions Gate support HD DVD?
Fox, Disney, and the rest of the BD studios: Wake up. It seems the reasons why HD-DVD was superior to BD in 2005 still hold true today. Sony will probably never deliver on some of their promises. I'm waiting to replace my Disney DVDs with your HD-DVD version!
When will sony learn that their attempts at relesing their own format will open the doors to pandora's box. They should just give up while they still can
for their next gen format. Wait, could there be a possibility that HD content will be transmitted via online services(ex. xbox live) and stored on massively huge harddrives. I believe gates hinted at this during one of his conferences when he said that the dvd-9 for the 360 might be the last disc format. The future is live content; posiibility?, Yes a very optimistic aproach knowing MS has a superior live service and better online server providers.(software codecs + streaming at that!).The future doesn't look too great for sony, do us a favour sony, stick to manufacturing TV's and audio equipment. That seems to be what you're good at.And No, I don't kiss MS "@#@" , generally the stuff that bill says becomes a reality. I personally dislike their business model approaches but business is business. Why are we still using windows?
I purchased the Xbox360 and HD DVD addition. I see no reason to purchase Blu-Ray... Didn't the adult entertainment conference recently say they are going to support HD DVD and not Blu due to manufacturing costs?
I believe that HD-DVD wins in the way that matter to consumers the most...which is quality and value. Please show your appreciation to the intelligent consumer and support HD-DVD.
I will never buy a Blu Ray Player. I will go to a streming HD provider if HD DVD loses. I already own 80 HD DVD titles and counting. All that money spent has gone to the studios that support HD DVD and not one penny to the studios that are in the Sony/Blu Ray camp.
I just want to say the Xbox 360 HD player made a believer out of me and I've bought 5 HD-DVD's since Christmas 2006. I hope the studio support increases because I prefer choice and a quality product. Over Sony's you must buy this additude. I hope you remember my words when you read this when making big decisions. (Studio's that currently don't offer a potential customers choice!)
I really like what hd dvd is doing and I feel that sony is already doing enough with what they have, they need to let someone else do the movie thing they have enough!
As a consumer, I feel that all studios would benefit by supporting HD-DVD. Ultimately, consumers will decide which format we wish to purchase, not studios. Please do what is right and support both formats.
As a supporter of HD-DVD, but more importantly a fan of movies, I would urge all those studio's that solely support Blu-Ray to reconsider & also support HD-DVD.
With the possiblities of more HD-DVD Players in people's home's than Blu-Ray Players, you have a chance to affect many more customers by going nuetral.
Please re-consider your stance & give us the HD-DVD consumer the ability to enjoy your worth while titles
I have a hd dvd player, but the films are lacking, i want more. consumers trust the dvd brand, releasing Hd dvds, is not a big a risk as you may think.
HD-DVD is a worthy delivery mechanism for your exceptional movies, oh mighty studios who choose to support the other format.
The other format does not deliver on claims of superiority to HD-DVD. We lowly consumers make purchases based on quality and affordability. The other format is failing in both categories and we have made our choice HD-DVD.
Surely your wisdom is not so small that you cannot see the power and glory that an alliance with HD-DVD would bring to your noble kingdoms.
It is unfortunate that, at this time, there are several production / distribution companies that have been taken in by Sony, and the Bluray propoganda machine.
My choice for a HD format was simple: Choose the one that is most cost effective (clearly HD-DVD), delivers the best quality (subjective, but I refer to some of the terribly mastered Sony Bluray releases as my rationale) and delivers bang-for-my-buck (HD/DVD combo discs allow me to use my purchase in multiple locations, where a HD-DVD player does not reside, such as in my car).
At this time, I own >600 SD-DVDs - a testiment to my willingness and ability to purchase. While my HD-DVD collection pales in comparison (17 discs after owning my HD-DVD player for 5 weeks), it will grow as additional software is released.
For those companies choosing not to support this product, I have but two options to obtain the product I desire - Hope for a HD-DVD to be released in another region / country, which I will import (such as Total Recall, Reigh of Fire, etc.), or not purchase the movie at all...
While this leaves me wanting for the movies not released in HD-DVD, I can/will rent them in standard def, instead.
Less than ideal, this is the position I have been put in, until such time as the 'format war' is settled.
It is to that end I hope that more studios will realize the benefits attached the the HD-DVD format (which would also include reduced production costs compared to Bluray) and embrace it as I, and many other consumers, already have.
Making people decide between Home Theater devices based on Which One will play Which Movie???? There are Many Many people still alive that remember the strong-arming over Beta-Max, Root-Kits etc and will buy NOTHING that Sony is involved in... Until there is a MAJOR difference in Quality (Both Picture and Audio) people will buy the player that is Most affordable (hmmm ToshA2)
You are losing income as a result of not supporting HD-DVD Format folks
Blu-Ray is a product of Sony's greed, nothing more. Sony only got into this because CDs arent selling. Educate consumers that HD-DVD is the format to support!
Bluray has let down its customers and investors. The quality is inferior and the price is outrageous. Studios should revoke their commitment to Bluray and opt for producing DVDs in both formats, if not in HD DVD exclusively.
