Until blu-ray can finally get their specifications sorted and their players cheaper, I won't touch them.
HD DVD is my format of choice. By not releasing a disc in this format, any studio is losing sales of people like myself, who are already spending our money on HD discs.
Please bring more support. I like my HD DVDs and don't want to have to settle for a less polished format just because one company has been throwing all the money it can at anyone it can to make it seem like everyone prefers their format. Let's not settle for mediocrity!
Customers should decide which format they prefer. The Blu-ray format cannot even finalize their specs for the format and it now appears that the BD mfg of players are all going to release BD players BEFORE the 1.1 deadline of 10/31/07 so they do not have to be compliant for yet another model year. This means either BD only studios will either have to wait another year to release the interactive features they planned, or the studios will be wasting their time/money because people who own the current or announced BD players cannot play them.Meanwhile, HD DVD can do it all now and in the future without hurting the consumer AND studios. They also do it at much better mass market adoption prices since they are already very close to reaching the under $200.00 price, that will get consumers adopting the HD format.Meanwhile, the BDA are charging 60% more for players that are not complete. Is this what the studios want? No one but early adopters buying their movies? Please reconsider your position to only release movies on BD, and start releasing movies on HD DVD so I can give YOU my money. Otherwise I will just rent your movies but much less frequently as I prefer to watch in HD
I believe with HD DVD format having been complete (except or firmware upgrades) from the beginning it is actually more considerate of the potential consumer of it's format then Blu-Ray.
Blu-ray has touted superiority of it's format from the beginning yet it stillhas not finalized it's 1.1 compliance thus ll early adopteers are owners of hardware tht cannot be upgraded to take fulladvantage of the future features on Blu-Ray discs.
HD DVD discs also require less expensive upgraddes to existing production lines and so is a natural progression from the SD DVD in both cost and customer recognition. HD DVD is DVD with the added high definition picture quality improvement.
Hey come on all studio like Disney,Liongate,Fox,Sony must support on HD DVD. That not fair for consumer want to buy more movies that they are not release on HD DVD. People favor HD DVD over crap and expensive Blu Ray. I want to HD DVD only one player standard.
Sony has and continues to financially support studios for Blu Ray exclusivity. They are now paying retail outlets to also go exclusive. Consumers are no longer allowed to decide the outcome of competing formats, instead greedy corporations are convincing studios and retail into making the decision for all consumers. We no longer have a choice!
I purchased an HD-DVD player a year and a half ago. I refuse to purchase a Blue ray player. I refuse to pay the higher price of Blue Ray. I would rather purchase a stabdard format DVD than waver in my decision on HD-DVD.
ps3 is not as big as sony think. there's no major adv on blu ray. however, in the near future, once the cheap china-made hd dvd become released. people will buy hd dvd. cash is the king. it's true.
