With the movie business' emphasis now being on 'business' it seems strange that studios would hold back on releasing their movies to a format that is established, selling well and by all accounts of a very high standard. What do the hold-out studios profit from propping up Sony's flailing, (currently) below par and prohibitively expensive proprietary format? I can only hope that the studio's see some sense and start releasing to both formats. We'll then see who the consumer decides to support, although it's telling that HD-DVD sales outstrip those of Blu-Ray even at this early stage and with a lack of varied, available software.
It will become increasingly obvious that HD DVD discs are outselling BD discs by at least 3 to 1. Please make the extra profit by taking advantage of this.
Microsoft releasing the 360s HD-DVD at £130 made up my mind. I have no doubt that Blu-Ray will follow the same route betamax, minidisc and now UMD have taken
It's simple, I own a 360, bought the HD-DVD drive- I support HD DVD as the format of choice. Cost for the player and discs are cheaper to buy all around.
Please let this format war be decided by consumers, not corporate greed. Release your movies on both formats and let the free market decided the best format.
Give us, the people who fund you through our purchases, a choice. Then you will see how popular the HD-DVD format really is compared to Blueray (which has been a let down so far).
You are losing sales and therefore money by withholding content from HD-DVD, and we are losing out on good movies!
