Please sign this petition if you think that the City of Bangor deserve new Christmas lights. Year after year we put up with the same old screw in boring light bulbs which randomly go pop in the wind! Every Town and City are getting new lights for their High streets, so why can’t Bangor.

This issue gets brought up time and time again in conversation and yes, granted, not everyone thinks the same, however, the majority of people I have spoken to think that new lights is a must for Bangor.

ONE THING IS CERTAIN; THE TRADERS ON THE HIGH STREET SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FUND THE LIGHTS LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN ASKED TO DO IN THE PAST!

As you may be aware there is a 3.5 MILLION regeneration plan for Bangor High St and to my knowledge not a penny has been pencilled in for the lights. If my information is incorrect then I shall delete this petition and take my hat off to those responsible!

This petition has been set up in response to a phone call I have received from radio Cymru today. They wanted to hear the view of someone who lives in Bangor regarding the news that –

THE CAERNARFON TOWN COUNCIL ARE SPENDING £65,000 ON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO BRIGHTEN UP THE SQUARE IN THE CETNRE OF CAERNARFON.

I take my hat off to their Town Council for investing this money into their XMAS LIGHTS, providing that it will not be funded by GWYNEDD COUNCIL!

In my opinion new Christmas Lights will not only make the City High Street look better but with on street entertainment, will help get City folk back spending their money in their own City rather than others down the Coast !.

The High street needs new lights, if the regeneration programme won’t replace them, If Gwynedd Council won’t replace them then why don’t the City Council replace them, just like our neighbours Town Council in Caernarfon!

If you would like to see funds being spent on new XMAS LIGHTS then please sign the petition.

I have been informed that the new EU legislation that came into effect in July means that old incandescant bulbs can no longer be used, so the old bulbs will need replacing asap !
