This petition has been initiated to find out if there is enough interest to warrant contacting an attorney regarding the practice of limiting consumer zip codes allowed to purchase concert tickets thru Ticketmaster for the Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds (featuring the Jonas Brothers) tour. Please sign this petition if you are seriously interested in a possible class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster, AEG Live, Hollywood Records and/or Disney for their unfair (and possibly illegal) ticket selling actions.

My specific experience involves my own personal zip code for a town which is a suburb of the city the venue is located in. The zip code was excluded from whatever list Ticketmaster was using and completely locked me out of purchasing tickets for this show. I’m sure many other parents had the same thing happen to them.

I paid for my daughter to join Mileyworld.com for the sole purpose of purchasing fan club tickets during the presale so she could see the Jonas Brothers in concert. I was online and ready to purchase tickets the moment the presale started. I was able to get through and I even had the seat assignment displayed to me on Ticketmaster but when I went to finalize the purchase, I was given a message telling me tickets were limited to a certain geographical area, of which my zip code is definitely part of. I literally live 10 minutes away from the venue and can walk there if I had no ride yet my zip code was left off this list????? All the scalper zip codes must have been included because the show sold out in minutes. Judging from how these tickets have been selling since the tour was first announced makes me wonder if leaving zip codes out was a mistake or intentional to allow the scalpers to purchase even more tickets. If it was indeed intentional, the question remains on if was it legal to prevent one consumer group from purchasing tickets allowing another (the scalpers) to purchase more tickets?

The actions of whoever put this zip code list together prevented me from purchasing 4 tickets at the regular price for my daughter and her friends thru Ticketmaster. They are huge Jonas Brothers fans and have been looking forward to this show for months. At this point, if I want to get tickets to this show for my daughter and her friends, I will have to purchase tickets from scalpers. I can’t afford to shell out hundreds (even thousands) of dollars for this and I feel I should not have to if my zip code was included as it should have been in the first place. Someone from Ticketmaster, AEG Live, Hollywood Records or Disney messed this up and should be held responsible.

Since September 25, 2007 (the day the fan club presale tickets for this venue went on sale) I have repeatedly written/emailed Ticketmaster, AEG Live, Hollywood Records, Disney, and the venue itself and no one has even had the decency to respond to me. Unfortunately, since none of these companies want to take responsibility for this injustice, I have been left with no choice but to pursue legal action. I have already contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed complaints.

In the meantime, I am trying to gather enough money to pay a scalper for tickets so my daughter and her friends can see the Jonas Brothers. The girls don’t understand that having to pay a ridiculous amount of money for tickets is wrong. They just want to go to the show to see their favorite band perform live. It’s upsetting to think that people are profiting over this. Parents were shut out and prevented from purchasing tickets from Ticketmaster because someone who works for one of these companies excluded certain consumer zip codes from the list, yet the scalpers are laughing all the way to the bank and the kids who can’t see their idols are crying because their parents can’t afford the crazy prices scalpers are charging. This is so unfair and simply wrong on so many levels.
