WHEREAS, Article 2 of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines Genocide as:

...any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

WHEREAS, the United States has established 18 USC §1091 to discourage domestic genocide.

WHEREAS, the United States during the Nuremberg trials and through a 1998 Presidential meeting with Rwandian survivors has established itself as force against cases of genocide iinternationally.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the United States Congression Foreign Relation Committee conduct further hearings into the acts of genocide committed by the Ottoman Turks from 1895 through 1955 against the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek peoples; and that the United States Congress, as whole, moves to officialy recognize and condemn the acts of genocide against the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek peoples.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the names contained herein on this petition reflect the will of the people they represent.
