Labor studies are an important part of American History and should not be eliminated or buried in another academic unit. It appears this may be more of a political decision than one of education.
Labor Studies has been a great benefit to myself, my employer, my children and to the communities it serves.
I feel it should remain as it exists today.
University education should embody a plurality of diciplinary options and theoretical perspectives to ensure its central role in promoting public debate and realising democratic ideals. Labor studies help students to understand the inevitable confict and tension that shapes society and create divisions based on race, gender and class. To dilute labor studies it to ignore these social, economic, political and cultural realities.

As a former Director of the Centre for Labour Studies in Adelaide, Australia I wish to express my support for the Labor Studies program at Indiana and urge the University to maintain this impressive and important program.
As an historian of US immigration and labor history, I regard labor studies as an essential component of any university curriculum AND PARTICULARLY OF ANY STATE UNIVERSITY.

If the board of trustees don`t keep our Labor Studies program, they should be put out to pasture just like the president has been, The trustees are put in place to assure that education is promoted and deliverlied to the highest quality of standards which not only the tax payers of the state of Indiana have become accoustomed to and deserve, but also the standards by which Indiana University has put on themselves to be the top learning instution in this great nation.
Just commen sence should tell our leaders what should be done, just do it. Do it for mankind, our leaders should be ashamed of even thinking about cutting this program. They shoiuld be doing everthing they can do to embrace it and nourish and help it grow. If they don`t they should be fired, And I mean Fire them now.

I took a Labor Studies class at IUPUI and I graduated as a Business Major. The class I took really was great because it helped me to see where we, as a nation, have come from and why we're going in the direction we are. It helps to learn from others mistakes and sucesses. If I am the future, if you kids are the future, don't you think we should where we came from so we don't follow the same path, so we can modify where we lead the future?? I feel that it is important to keep the Labor Studies.
Indiana has some of the weakest labor laws in the country. If anything we should be increasing labor studies and promote workers rights legislation on a regular basis. Bill Savage
Why is it always labor studies to go first? Labor Studies should also be taught in high school!! Indiana is my home state and I think I can complete my ba via online in labor studies. The first real subject I can get excited about. Don't bust my bubble or anyones else.
THANK YOU
