Earlier this year, The ship Esperanza sailed to the Southern Ocean Sanctuary, where the Japanese whaling fleet was attempting to kill 945 whales. I invited you as members of Mother's Nature, along with us, to create the biggest crew ever!

Killing whales will devastate sub-marine ecological system and endager many fish species.

Now the work continues. A key arena in the struggle against whaling is the International Whaling Commission (IWC) - where the campaign to save whales can be won or lost. In May 2007, the IWC59 takes place in Anchorage, Alaska - Representatives from more than 70 countries will meet to decide the fate of the world's whales. The whaling countries, led by Japan, want to end the 22-year-old moratorium on commercial whaling. We cannot let this happen - and we need your help!

I hope that we can convince the IWC to vote NO to whaling. We can't let happen that the whales be expelled from this earth by a few whalingcountries as Japan. It's high time that we humans start to understand that we don't own this world. The creatures we share this planet wth, have just as much right on living, or even more, as we we humans have. The survival of the Japanese people doesn't depend on eating whalemeat. They can better eat seaweed, as they already do. Much healthier for them and for the whales, and dolphins as well!!Monica
