Because the recent US lead war in Iraq was not sanctioned by the United Nations and because there was no request from the Iraqi government for such an invasion and because there was no act of aggression by Iraq to justify military action the war must be deemed, by all reasonable international standards to be illegal.

We, the undersigned, urge the UN to seek compensatory damages, to be paid by nations participating in the invasion of Iraq, for the people of Iraq to include, but not be limited to;

1) Full compensation for all persons injured as a direct or indirect result of the invasion.

2) All persons suffering property damage as a direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

3) All persons suffering a loss of wages or other hardship as a, direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

4) The families or next of kin of all fatalities that were a, direct or indirect, result of the invasion.

5) The government of Iraq, including local and regional governments for damage done to public property and antiquities

and

6) Punitive damages to help the people of Iraq recover in the post war period.

If international law is to have any validity then it must seek to punish violators and compensate victims when that law is violated.

George W. Bush has been in denial relative to the war in Iraq. Bush has had a history of denial. Bush’s little sister, Robin, died from leukemia while Bush was a little boy. Robin was only three years old (Pauline Robinson Bush (original name): December 20, 1949 – October 11, 1953). A premature death in the Bush family. How sad. Afterward, the hair of the mother of Bush turned white very quickly. Bush’s mother aged quickly. Bush sought to brighten the spirit of his miserable mother, maintaining it would all be alright. Bush had a disillusioned or romanticized outlook—he was in denial. If we had compensated Iraqis for the harm done years ago by our economic and military assaults, we wouldn't now be looking at years of devastation to us all.

We must at the same time consider full compensation for the poor families and communities in the United States who have been further impoverished by the misallocation of perhaps $280 billion and counting to these imperalist adventures!
