After having the privilege of escorting John F. Kennedy Jr aboard his father's namesake aircraft carrier, I wear a JFK (CV-67) ballcap everyday to remind the world of this great man and this great ship.
I SERVED ON THE USS SHANGRI LA, USS INDEPENDANCE, USS LEXINGTON, AND THE USS SHENADOAH, AND SAVING THE JFK IS THE BEST IDEA I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME, KEEP HER OUT OF THE SCRAP YARD
Save the JFK The GOVERNMENT knows conventional carriers are cheaper to build, maintain, operate and scrap than nuclear carriers.www.fas.org/man/ gao/nsiad98001/c2.htmwww. gao.gov/archive/1998/ns98 001.pdfSTOP WAISTING OUR TAX DOLLARS!!!
As a volunteer of the Battleship New Jersey, I know how decommissioned ships can be preserved for future generations to enjoy and learn Navy life and the impact the ship made in American history. PRESERVE OUR AMERICAN HISTORY !
i served on this carrier from around 1969 to 1970 (med cruise) i was a crewman in the helicopter squadron (hc2) this carrier does not need to be forgotten. she served this country well and she now deserves to be treated the same way.
I serves aboard the USS WASP home ported in Boston, also participated in fleet exercises with the Kennedy.I also recommend saving her and making her a museum in Boston.
The JFK's fate greatly saddens me. This ship, like the President for whom it was named, was taken from us much too soon. Please do the right thing and save this legacy.
THIS SHIP WAS THE BACKBONE OF THE NAVY, THIS SHIP SHOULD BE SAVED, IT MEANS A LOT TO NAVY VETERNS IN HER TIME ON THE HIGH SEAS AND THERE TIME IN SERVICE TO THE COUNTRY.
