When children are tried as adults, the balance necessary for justice does not exist. Please support this Petition. Youth can never be considered the same as adults in an adult court for all the same reasons. minors are separate from adults in all aspects of life.
I support this Petition. Because too many of our youth's today who are incarcerated will not be giving a second chance to show that they have change, and I truly believe if our youth's is giving a chance to show to the parole board how mature they have become. They should be giving the oppurtunity to come out and live a productive life and to allow him or her to pay back to the victims family a monitary gift for their lost, for a number of years sanction by the court or parole board. If the parolee does not comply by the ruling, he/she will return back to D.C. to complete sentencing.
I support this Petition. No minor under any circumstance should be forced to go through the adult court and or prison system. What they also fail to tell us is if needed the juvenile system can keep these kids until the age of 25 not just 18 or 21. Our children are worth a lot more than a dollar. Our children = Our future.
I support this petition. I have met the women personally and believe that it is very unfair to sentence a child to a punishment that is meant for an adult who understands the consequences of their actions. children don't.
I support this petition 100%.. My son was facing life in prison at the age of 16..Although His attorney at the time did get him out at 21, he still was very misled....
I support this petition 100%. Our archaic penal system is built on an antiquated emotional system designed around vengeance which is not as it should be. More appropriately in a civilized world, the system should incorporate a level of punishment then rehabilitation for all those who have that capacity.
I support this petition. To allow our children to consistently be eradicated from society, without even the chance for rehabilitation, goes against the very core of our nations survival. It is unethical, deemed by the supreme court, to sentence a minor to death. But this is the same principle! They have nothing to live for, nothing to work towards. To give a juvenile even a chance at parole increases the likelihood they will change. The current law, as it stands, leads our juvenile justice system astray.
