19 Feb 2006 - 0:51    Ivonne Knutson : I support this petition.
20 Feb 2006 - 1:43    Dave : I support this petition.Early this year I divorced my wife of 16yrs after finding out she was having an affair in the next town and walking off and leaving myself and four children for seveal months(1200 mi. away)I recieved full custody of all four of my children and life went on.Soon she returned to the area wanting to try and work things out. When I refused she became angry and complained to the police I struck her.i was arrested jailed and convicted even though every wittnes said I done nothing wrong(my word against hers)Now I am unable to continue as a law enforcement officer or ever teach my two sons to hunt. You bet I support this petition
21 Feb 2006 - 23:48    Phillipe Gonzales : I think if there's abuse in the relationship, physical, or threats with weapons then the person should lose the right to own a gun. I lost my right because I did property damage, never threatened my wife. Because of the property damage she did get angry and hit me. She tried to tell the cops this, but they didn't care and she was labled the victim through and through. While she was hitting me though I lifted up to try and get her off of me, as I was bent over and covering myself trying to defend myself. Because I did this they tried to charge me with 3rd degree assault on top of criminal mischief. I guess you're allowed to beat someone if they mess with your property without any consequence.
23 Feb 2006 - 7:14    nizar meddeb : I support this petition.
23 Feb 2006 - 23:19    LeGrand Adams : I support this petition. Plain and simple. This law is unconstitutional and is the epitome of the Constitution of the United States hanging by a thread.
25 Feb 2006 - 4:29    brian clayton : I support this petition.
28 Feb 2006 - 7:26    Joseph B. Sager : I support this petition.
2 Mar 2006 - 9:42    SGT. Michael Funk : I served in iraq from 03-04 as a gunner came home and found out i couldnt carry a firearm because of a DV charge in 2001 two years before i deployed what is wrong with this picture go to war but not deer hunting give me a break this law needs looking into kind of like some of our local county court houses and judges that "hand out this charge" GO ARMY HOOOAH
3 Mar 2006 - 3:42    Homer Radford : I support this petition. The retroactive nature of this amendment has caused me continual grief. I was cited for DV for spanking my child in 1995 a year later the lautenberg amendment was enacted. I could have unknowingly become a felon for gun possession.
5 Mar 2006 - 1:04    Sujely Kang : I support this petition.
7 Mar 2006 - 9:47    Alan L. Parrish : I lend my support to this. My mother was in an abusive relationship in which the man threatened to sodomize me and hire people to physically assault my grandmother and laid out plans to carry through with such threats. She then bought a gun and shot him. She gained no charges from this incident, which occurred in 1992. Had she committed this 3 years later, she would have been convicted. This law is an abomination.
23 Mar 2006 - 0:16    Jose Rosa : I support this petition.
28 Mar 2006 - 0:32    Michelle : I support this petition.
28 Mar 2006 - 4:49    William Richards : I support this petition.
31 Mar 2006 - 1:08    Michael Jaramillo : I absolutely support this petition. I think too many good people are being made to suffer inappropriate lifetime sentences. The punishment needs to fit the crime committed. This "blanket" lifetime punishment is outrageous, and unfounded.
31 Mar 2006 - 1:19    Chris Jaramillo : I support this petition.
31 Mar 2006 - 1:20    Donald jaramillo : I support this petition. The punishment does not fit the crime in most cases. I understand the reasoning behind it, but a lifetime ban is not reasonable.
31 Mar 2006 - 2:05    jesse : I support this petition.
3 Apr 2006 - 8:38    paul crum jr. : I support this petition.
6 Apr 2006 - 0:27    Disqualified from the military Mel : I support this petition 100%!!! In early 1997 my husband(now divorced) had a disagreement; he thought it was ok for his family to bad mouth me and I disagreed. At any rate, it became physical and his t-shirt got ripped as a result of my trying to use it to soften the fall as he pushed me down a flight of stairs. Needless to say, when the police arrived he had a torn t-shirt and my bruises didn't show for a couple of hours. I was charged with DV. After 13 years it is still haunting me.
14 Apr 2006 - 4:48    Aaron Ajani : I support this petition.
22 Apr 2006 - 1:01    Larry Jaramillo : I support this petition.
27 Apr 2006 - 18:27    Raymond Rennekamp : I support this petition.
29 Apr 2006 - 11:31    Linda Doyle : I support this petition.
29 Apr 2006 - 11:34    Marvinna Franklin : I support this petition.
11 May 2006 - 8:20    Matthew : I support it in the fact that I made a mistake at 18 and I got in an arguement with my mom and threw a remote and hit her in the back. Left a small red mark. I was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence. Now because of that at 20 I cannot join the Armed Forces because I cannot lawfully handle a gun. That is no right in my opinion. I just wanna join the military and start my career off right but I can't.
16 May 2006 - 21:05    Neva Li : As a woman who has gone through domestic abuse, I believe I can speak to this issue with a unique perspective. This is unconstitutional and oversteps legsal boundaries. It is also singularly ineefective, not to mention unfair. If a man, as a 19 year old, once was found guilty of domestic violence, long before this law took effect, even 40, 50, 60 years later, he cannot exercise his Second Amendment rights. That is simply inexcusable. Punish the deed, not whatever weapon might be used in the deed. One cannot save the victims of domestic violence this way - criminals are, by definition, not going to follow the law. It is law-abiding citizens, who have paid for whatever crime they may have once committed, who suffer now. Repeal Section 658 of Public Law 104-208!
27 May 2006 - 1:13    kevin berga :
29 May 2006 - 17:16    todd m trombley : I have seen alot of good men's lives destroid because of this foolish law,it does not stop violence, and it will never stop tiffs between a man and a woman.
30 May 2006 - 9:42    Mike : Like a lot of other issues, government went from being ridiculously lax, to insanely vigorous over a short period of time. Prosecutors have no interest in talking to the parties in involved, and in my case even the domestic violence counselor said I shouldn't be prosecuted. But she knew my job was on the line and I've have to plead if she leveled charges. Now I can't own a gun for the rest of my life? Although no one is actually doing a damn thing to enforce this. What a bunch of crap.
5 Jun 2006 - 8:16    Don Dell : I Support This Petition, The Lautenberg Amendment is a BAD LAW.
7 Jun 2006 - 2:28    Ed Nolan : Stop trying to take our weapons away and stop trampling the Constitution. I support an amendment that allows only citizens earning less than 50,000 dollars per year can hold public office. Get the rich, elite 'class' out of Washington
8 Jun 2006 - 10:14    Tony : Whether it be a misdemeanor or felony. A person's right to bear arms should only be taken if a firarm was used in an assault or the commission of a crime.
11 Jun 2006 - 20:15    STEWART C. SAWYER : An armed society is a polite society, history proves that when citizens give up their arms the government gets more repressive. Therefore an armed society ia also a FREE society.
12 Jun 2006 - 0:22    David Gentry :
12 Jun 2006 - 6:11    Bryan O'Hare : I will follow this issue veery closely
13 Jun 2006 - 8:30    randy : i support this petition becuz it is unconstitutional to take away the right to bear arms if you are a felon then ok but not for a misdemeanor
23 Jun 2006 - 9:19    Macaella : because my dad (who loves hunting and target shooting)was attacked by his now ex-wife (my then stepmom). He tried to defend himself by holding her back. They were both yelling and the cops came. Neither of them had bruises but they arrested him. Under this law because he has a misdemeaner he could never own a gun again. And then I don't get to go target shooting with my dad anymore.
26 Jun 2006 - 2:55    Patrick Tercho :
29 Jun 2006 - 0:17    Steve Johanson : The Lautenberg Act stinks!
29 Jun 2006 - 18:47    Michael Brown : this is an ex-post facto law, which is unconstitutional in itself, let alone infringing on the right to keep and bear arms, in violation of the Second Amendment.
1 Jul 2006 - 10:42    jessie baca :
13 Jul 2006 - 10:20    Ashton B : Hopefully serving my country...
15 Jul 2006 - 9:19    William G. Dunn III : I am trying to re-enlist in the Armed Forces, and can not, Due to this stupid Law. My first question is, why the gun thing, there are many ways that people are killed, such as nives, scissors, brake lines being cut, suffication drowning, and what not. What is next they gonna take away our kitchen utensils, cars, swimmingpools, and pillows! Remove the law.
15 Jul 2006 - 9:22    Lulu A Worsham : My spouse now, was convicted of Simple Battery (FV) because of his crazy ex-wife, now years later this law effects My life as well as those who had the charges against them.
16 Jul 2006 - 23:08    BRENT :
18 Jul 2006 - 5:22    Bryan Guidry : The law is totally illegal, ex-post facto, and infringes on a persons rights to protect his family and property from criminals.
27 Jul 2006 - 1:59    Jason Eager :
2 Aug 2006 - 8:09    David Lickiss :
6 Aug 2006 - 9:00    Terry Zafiriou : I have been victimized by this act and should not be punished ex post facto.
