As students and faculty in the Marriage and Family Therapy field, we believe that quick and drastic changes need to be made to secure the next generation of marriage and family therapists in the State of New Jersey. Pursuant to statute, N.J.S.A. 45:8B-18(b), applicants who wish to obtain licensure in New Jersey must complete 8,750 hours of marriage and family and general counseling experience. New Jersey’s experience requirement surpasses all other states. We the undersigned support the proposed amendment which will make New Jersey’s standards in line with that of other states by lowering the requirements for hours and years of experience and still maintain the integrity of the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.

yes, please reduce the number of licensure hours required, or all the MFT's will relocate out-of-state!!

I support the reduction in hours. It shouldn't be a way to deter people from becoming a therapist.

The 8750 hours that is required for MFT licensure in N.J. has raised the bar so high that almost no one can reach it. It is rendering our profession extinct.
