I think it will be a while before the blu-ray players get cheap enough for most people to afford them. I have also had bad experiences with Sony SD DVD players in the past and am reluctant to purchase something they've built from the ground up.
Seeing is believing. I was going to purchase the Blu-Ray product, but it is clear that the HD DVD player is superior and the best format to showcase your products.
I am a Custom Home Theater Dealer in Central VA. I have both the HD DVD player as well as the Blu-Ray unit. There is no comparison of performance. HD DVD is a huge step above.
HD DVD is in the mind of the masses, even if they don't know it. Just associating with 'DVD' will certainly draw consumers to the product over time vs. Bluray, and releasing big-name films (LotR!) will certainly help its exposure. Have you seen the Bluray release list compared to HD DVD so far? Not great for them, and image quality on the initial BD titles is surprisingly poor. OK..I'm done. Please be proactive with this decision and support HD DVD! Thx!
