because I support HD DVD. I'm not going to buy a stand-alone Blu-Ray player... if I ever get a Blu-Ray device it will be a PS3 once the price drops maybe a year after release... Sony is INSANE! $1000 for their Blu-Ray players, $600 for PS3...
