We the users and authors in such communities as pornish_pixies and other banned communities as signed below, wish to inform the people who have attempted to besmirch our communities that we are not bad people.
We are not interested in corrupting children, or others sensitive to such material.
As we the undersigned understand, a Livejournal community that was based on Harry Potter fanfiction was banned because it contained "incest" in its interests.
We fail to understand how this was so violently misconstrued.
We are interested in fanfiction, which, by name, is fan-based fiction. Some of this fiction includes incest, pedophilia, and rape.
In some cases, writing these stories may very well be a therapeutic route, allowing those who have dealt with these horrors to better cope with their experiences.
In other cases, these aforementioned social taboos are used simply as plot devices, though rarely ever in a flippant or thoughtless manner.
We the undersigned wish to formally express our disappointment at Livejournal for banning these communities without consideration of the motivations of the people responsible for making complaints against them.

I support this petition. Most of the commus on LJ with fics are f-locked and/or invite only, so I see nothing wrong with it. As an avid fanfic reader & writer, this whole thing offends me. The people against fics containing whatever had them deleted disgusts me. This is the exact opposite of promoting creativity - which is what I THOUGHT LiveJournal was about.

Everyone with an ounce of brain realises not only that LJ overreacted completely in this matter. It seems that there is a strong anti-homosexual, Christian conservative bias, and that's not exactly making me think about getting that paid account.

You're not making it safer, LJ. You're making it emptier.

Its called fandom for a reason. Because it is. not. real. Its not like I'm about to go out and rape my little sister or something now just because I read darkfic.we keep our fetishes in our heads for the most part, and it is completely unfair to take them away for such a silly reason.

I am a survivor. I know there are those who have difficulty determining fantasy from reality, but that does not give them the right to project that delusion onto others.WFI and groups like it make the sound-bite speech of,

What they've done is inexcusable, and could be likened to the witch hunts in centuries past. Among other things. >.< LJ should be ashamed of themselves.

Whatever my interests are, they are NOT harmful in any way to others. Try out places like myspace.com and look for pedophiles there!
