This is absolutely ridiculous and a total violation of our rights. We're not pedophiles; we are writing and sharing FICTION that does not need to be read by anyone who doesn't want to or is not allowed to.
If you can't differentiate between fiction and fact, between healthy social behaviour and unhealthy, between the disgusting and wrong and SUPPORT GROUPS, then I don't want to be apart of the new 'livejournal community
Signing this does not mean I am pushing for pedophiliac rights. Law makers need to understand the difference between authentically 'bad' people and people writing fanfiction stories for theirs and their friends entertainment.
It's a good thing my LJ was recently renewed before Strikeout 2007. If Six Apart does not correct their error, I will find a blog service that doesn't support censorship.
I am anti-censorship in general, but this case takes the prize - it is censorship based on ONE WORD. Without even evaluating these journals, they have been deleted solely for using ONE WORD in their profiles. That is sad and wrong. What is most disappointing is the damage that SixApart is doing to the LiveJournal Community.
I am disgusted by the blatant misconduct LJ's team has taken in deciding what is appropriate and what is not. I joined LJ to enjoy freedoms not found on other websites, and this is an overstepping of sane boundaries.
There is nothing that can support livejournal's cause for these brash decisions. Without researching, they have made fools of themselves and angered users that have been around for years - myself included as I have been around for seven years. The fact that Livejournal is a business and claim themselves to be as such and they were thrown into hysteria by a radically religious group trying to use vigilante tactics in securing the internet world from pedophiles, rapists, etc is pathetic. Not only are Livejournal held responsible for such unethical choices, but Warriors for Innocence needs to be cracked down upon with an iron fist. Nowhere in any American document does it say I have to give up my rights to my freedoms to satisfy religious loons.
LiveJournal wants to help and do what they can. I understand. But they're deleting innocent journals without so much as looking into it. They want to blame ANYONE. They need to focus and put their resources into finding the ones who are the real culprits. This entire situation could have simply been avoided if they did their homework.Give us our LiveJournal back.
Spoilers never prosper - management needs to offer better leadership to the wonderful volunteers - this was a policy problem more than a silly mad user picking on p*rn instead of guns.
Apparently livejournal needs the same reminder that my roommate gets when she starts yelling at the TV. Harry Potter and other fandoms are FAKE. They involve fake people carrying out fake activities.
Deleting innocent journals is atrocious. Deleting journals of survivors is horrible. Deleting fanfiction because you disagree with it is just down right pitiful.
taking apart survivor sites is just doing damage to those who need support from those who understand them best.if there is a warning on the content of the site stating
There is a difference between fiction and real life. You cannot lump everyone into one big group. Live journal you have literally back stabbed your paying customers and people who have enjoyed and respected your site. You were so chuffed when you had your 13th million journal created - what will happen when that lovely number declines so rapidly?
