I support this petition and other efforts to legalize marijuana in Nevada and the rest of the country. I am an active user of marijuana and have been for years. Unlike alcohol the more pot you smoke you do not become more intoxicated. I am also an example of how some one in a position of management at a major casino in Las Vegas can be a active user and still properly function in society.
I support this petition. its rediculous that the government has been able to hold this off for so long and if the majority of people in the united states smoke its a wonder why we havent banned together and done something about this. you know what politicians love? majoritys and if the majority of people in the united states smoke it and believe it should be legal than we need to stand up. write your governer. it would take about as much time to do that as it would to sign this petition.

Legalizing marijuana would be one of the smartest things the government did this year. Billions of dollars are spent a year on street drugs in each state, if they could find a way to tax this and distribute it, a nice chunk of this economic hardship we are in would be helped. Also another point people are not seeing is by legalizing Marijuana we are taking it out of drug dealers hands. Marijuana is considered the gateway drug, the first drug people try before they try harder drugs. Me my self I am against Meth and other hard drugs, and the only reason a lot of people end up addicted to the harder drugs is because the dealers they go to for their Marijuana also have harder drugs and over time get talked into trying it then become addicted. If we are to take Marijuana out of the drug dealers hands we would cut the drug trafficking down drastically, and save a lot of lives. And personally I would rather be around a stoner then a drunk. People under the influence of alcohol tend to do irrational things, they fly off the handle and become violent at times, now mind you I do understand there are the happy drunks out there, I my self am one, but I have done some really stupid things when drunk, when I was smoking Marijuana the worst thing I did was eat a bag of chips, play some games and dance a few hrs at a rave back in the 90’s. That and smoking Marijuana is a hell of a lot healthier then smoking a cigarette, and drinking beer. Given smoking anything isn’t healthy but at least it doesn’t have all the nasty chemicals in it that cigarettes do, and it doesn’t kill your stomach and liver like alcohol does. The only side effect it has other then impaired driving just like drinking, as well as slowed reactions. But the THC from Marijuana releases serotonin helping to combat depression, and other emotional and mental dysfunctions, as well as helping to combat many diseases, and physical disorders. It was made illegal because of a man named Duponte in the 1930s that saw it as a threat to his business, a Gov official helped him by putting it in a catagory 1 class and making the refer madness movie to dupe the public. Hoping people would give it up, that was 60 years ago and people still want it legal. The people are right. Pot is so much less harmless than thousands of other legal drugs it is an outrage. Or it should be... What is wrong with our government? Ohh, that's right ... $$$$$they have been bought on the subject for 70 years now.
marijuana should be legal based on the fact that our government spends millions of dollars fighting the war on drugs. thats understandable. but pot is the biggest cash crop in four of our great states even though its illegal. If the government saved the money it spends on fighting pot and then legalized it and put a low tax on it like cigarettes they would make BILLIONS. they could take this money and put it into Medicare. that way my generation will have some money in our pensions when we retire. SCREW THE WAR ON DRUGS! anyone should have the choice to put any substance they chose into their body at any moment they please. it should be a state issue.
