i think it is good that the legal age to drive is 15 its hell good because i live in oz and its hell crap cos we cant get ours till 16 and a half and by then we are moved out of home and dont have the parental supervison that we need. thats why im moving there

I support this petition. I think the driving age should be 15 for a learners oermit and 17 for a licence that way teens are supervised whilst driving and can get a licence before they can drink.
i ab****ly dissagree with this. it makes it alot easier on the parents if the kids are able to transport themselves to work, piano lessons etc. parents should know if their kids are responsable enough to have a licence and if they are not they simply shouldnt get one under the rules of their parents. but if the driving age is raised it will put alot more stress on the parents lives .

I think the driving age should be sixteen because it works and if you want less crashes just enforce the speed limit more and test people at all ages to make sure they are still 'worthy' of their license.

I think that you should change the legal driving age to 18 because people at 15 are still emotionally unstable and what happens when someone cuts in line in the traffic they've been in for 2 hours? they'll get over upset and do irrational things. The amount of people that di ebecause of teenage accidents are probably huge right now and u should minimize it! You should also change the drinking age to a higher year. Perhaps something like 21? 22? Because when u hit that year when ur allowed to drink then you go out partying out all night, flaunting around ur i.d.! U need to provide time for new drivers to learn how to stay safe on the road and then give them the right to drink or else things would get too overhand. Independance is something that should be thoughtfully given out to the people who would take it gratefully and responsibly. Not silly 15 year olds that think they are mature enough to handle it on the roads.

Young people ,especially males, get their license then move straight onto very powerful cars that they cannot handle, they speed, because they feel a need to impress or look cool, but they don't think. They treat driving like a playstation but they have yet to realize they only have on chance and if they blow that chance the outcome could be deadly. Young people are the main cause of NZ deaths every year, they themselves and innocents. Someone should make a law that you can only drive a car that doesn't have so much power, or change the age. Either of those may decrease the number of crashes each year. Otherwise theres nothing you can do about it. Most crashes are influenced by alcohol too.
15 year olds just don't have enough experience. if you raise the age to 18 den you will have 18 year olds crashing. its all about experience. the more the better.
16yr olds usually want to (and should) experiment. That said, cars aren't tools to experiment with in my opinion. Not at 140km/h.
If you're under 18, buy a scooter and at least get aqcuainted with speed over the course of a few years. You don't *need* a car when you're under 18n anyway.

I’ve been waiting to get my licence for 2 years now; I even read the road code when I was 12. finally this year I was going to get, I was so excited I even started saving up for car I even brought car polish, smellys everything to make it mine. I think it should stay at 15 as it gives us some responsibility, as I just threw everything away and didn’t take care of anything. My family told me that everyday. This year I was finally going to prove them wrong, prove that I could take care of a car work hard buy petrol, have registration, wof, good tyres and even some insurance. If it stayed at 15 I wouldn’t have to walk home from work at 7 and 9 o clock at night or even ask for a ride home I would be safe. I know that I would still have to wait 6 months for my restricted but isn’t that shorter than 3 years im sure police don’t want another headline saying "girl raped and murded" do you?
