The Drivinq Age Should Stay At 15 Because The People That Are Mainly Beinq Cauqht Drinkinq & Drivinq Is Youth But Also Adults Aswell!
The youth That Mainly Do qet Cauqht Are The Ones That Either Don\'t Have There License Or Are Just immature. What They Should Do Is Look At There Past Or Present Reports & qet The Youth To qet A Slip Or Contract Whatever Siqned By There Dean & Someone That Isn\'t Their Relative But Close To There Family Or Themselves. I Am A Teen Myself, 15 Years Old. If You Were To Raise The Drnikinq Aqe It Would Be Unfair To Those Teens That Actually Deserve It & Are Mature Enouqh To qet Their License & If You Were To Raise It You Would See More Havoc On The Streets With Teens Drivinq Without Their Drivers License But Are Yet Good Drivers! & All Of Yous That Have qot Yur License & Aqree With Raisinq The Drivinq Aqe All Of Yous Have Already qot Yur License But Yew Should Put Yurself In Myshoes & Understand Where Im Cominq From! Thankyou!
i do not support this petition - we need to teach teens in school; provide education and practical skills. How can we let them be independent without supporting them.
I got my learners at 15. didnt have a crash. i drove with passengers. Im an example of a typical teenager.and yet i havent hurt anyone becuase i choose not to drink drive. drink drivings more the issue
I Do Not Support This Petition. I Have Just Turned 15 And Have Been Raised On A Farm, Resulting In Me Learning To Drive At The Age Of 12. All My Family, Including Distant Family, Have Been Taught To Drive At A Very Young Age, We Are All Responsible Drivers And Know What's What. I Have Been Waiting To Turn 15 For A Very Long Time Just To Obtain My Learner's License.
I Think Having The Driving Age At 15 Teaches Kids To Be Responsible And Careful In Future Years, Where They Will Be Legal To Alcohol, Which Will Be A Bad Mix If The Driving Age Is Increased.
KEEP IT THE WAY IT IS.
I disagree with this petition! Putting the driving age up will just encourage kids my age to drive because they won't be allowed to drive but they will. Just to get attention and in more trouble! I also think that it'll be a waste of time and it would put more pressure on the police!
I agree that it's a bad idea to have the driving age the same as the allie and the cig age. i just got my learners and am careful that i don;t cause accidents.
Anyway i found some research saying that 15 percent of accidents are caused by teens...
What about the other 85 percent.
WHY DON'T WE FOCUS ON THESE APPARENTLY "RESPONSIBLE" BUGGER? It doesn't make sense.
I think everyone should get their full licence at the age of 18. There shouldn't be learner or restricted licence because at the age of 18 people most people start becoming mature.
Hey my name is harrison and im almost 15 so this affects me aswell as our peers the driving age should stay as it is or we will be to bored and nagg our parents to drive us sum where but then they wont yea we cant drive on our learners but still it will delay the inevitable...
this is stupid the new zealand goverment are a bunch of morons i bet more accidents will happen cause people will have less experience by the age of 18 and thats also the legal age for drinking so learners lience and alchole dont mix
Dudes im turning 15 in 6 days and i wanna drive! raising the age aint gonna make 15 year olds stop driving... its just gonna mk them stop driving legally... besides i'll be 16 when i start uni... how am i supposed to get there? buses are always late! i need my restricted!
i think it should stay how it is im 16 and about to move out of home if i didnt have my restricted and a car to get around then i would be screwed, i wouldnt be able to get to my job and then wouldnt be able to pay my rent......im a responsible driver and i reckon if you can buy alkies and smokes and drive and make all those changes at the age of 18 then there will be more people going nuts thinkin theyre grown up and can go wild .....stupid...dont change it!!!!! x0x
Im 15 and I dissagree! The driving age must stay as it is, 18 will collide with the drinking age. With drinking comes drugs, and all these in cocktail will be a leathal weapon. To leave the age as it is will be the better solution because we will be able to get home an to our sports or work safetly. The problem here is actually the police, they are abviously not doing their job too well, meaning they are not obtaining the drunk drivers or the silly people who can drive safely.
i fink it should not be raised. maybe there r sum un trustworthy kids out there that shouldnt b on da road but there r also some good ones. also there r sum untrustworthy adults out there aswel. its the only fing sum kids have 2 look foward 2. plz dnt raise it.
thats soo stiupid changing the age to 18 because thats the drinking age and wil more than likely increase road accident which isnt safe for our communities.students going off to universities away from home will now have to rely on public transport and if their doing late nights at jobs isnt safe if they have to walk a fair distance to their cars and bus stops. 15 may be a young age to be responsible as you are able to get your full at 16 and a half at the youngest, which is also pretty young so instead of raising the age sread the time out between learners restricted and full. if the age stays at 18 personaly i wont b able to get my lisence till im away at university , which will be harder for me as i will hav to find my way around a new city and will not want to walk at late hours for my own safety so how am i going to be able to get around if i am not awear of the times of the transport around me. as others have stated just because there are irresponsible people out there doesnt mean you should punnish the others who are willing to bide by the laws and drive safely, if people are getting away with drunk driving and reckless driving thats not our fault its yours for not having the right security measures and obviously the police arent doing their jobs right if drivers are getting away with this. and most of the people prosecuted for reckless driving are usually older than us. screw it haha
leave the driving age as it is. just like people have said before its not all teenagers that are irresponsible its only a small percentage. im 14 and turning 15 in april and i have a job which is about 20 minutes away from my house. without my licence i will have to keep relying on my parents to take me there and i wont get alll the independence that i need.they should make the tests harder and make it that you have to stay on your learners and restricted licences for longer. make it that you can only have a certain amount of power in your car like a4 cylinder or a 2000cc car with no turbos like in australia. pleasedot change the driving age change the drinking age
I am 14 and i think that the driving age should not be lifted because not like some people we are quite capable of driving. it all comes down to responsible people. you should make it a must that they have to do some sort of driving ed and if you don't think that they are capable of driving then don't give them there liesence simple then the road toll will rejuce. If you do move the age limit up 2 18 years well i am telling you now there will be more more people behind the wheel that are drunk drivers and then your so called roll toll will increase BIG TIME.
im 14 and my dad just brought me a brand knew motorbike as i am turning 15 next month!if the driving age changes before then i have to wait 3 more years and somehow i have to tell my dad that he has just wasted $6000
Since I started school, everyone has been older than me. I'm 14 and in the ninth grade, I started early due to the date of my birthday. Now that all the kids in my grade are already beginning to drive and get permits, i'm the only one that isn't elligable to get my permit. Now the government is pondering if they should raise the driving age to 18. In only a few short years i'll be finishing highschool soon, and preparing to go off to college. Due to my age i'll be 17 once I begin college. Yes, this means that i'll actually have to go off to college with out my liscense.I feel that the age of 16 is an apprpriate age to start driving because no matter what you do there will always be losers on the road at any age breaking rules and being irresponsible so we shouldnt suffer because of their stupidity.
My name is lanae, and i am about to turn 15 and I honestly do not think that you should change the driver age. I mean having a car you can get to your jobs you can get to church school functions and any fundraisers that help out charity all because your parents can't take here or there out of town or at an important work meeting. Driving the age of getting your license is good on account of you pass the test. Maybe you should not give them so many chances to pass it, 2 strikes and you will be out. They should also put drivers ed back in school to help all the kids become good drivers and not be stupid, and that would allow them to know everything that will go on. Everyone has faults no ones perfect.
I do not support this. I mean why all of a sudden change it now. If you take the test then it means you are a responsible student driver pending if you pass. It's not just the teenagers that are causing all the road rage, its some of the senior citizens and all the drunk drivers. So please do not change this driving age.
why do u have to be 18 to get ur licence its not really fare because the people before the due date that it gets change all the people after that have been wantin to get it for many years so at leased keep it at 15 for at leased 2 more years
I do NOT support this, i think we should make the driving age from whenever you can reach the pedals therefore we can have much more responsible and experienced drivers by the time they reach the drinking age.
if you r gunna raise the driving age do what they do in sweeden... drink qat 16 drive at 18 so ppl have had experience with alcohol b4 they learn to drive
WTF!! i dont think the driving age should go up because if they put it up to 18 u dont have anything to enjoy...cause when you are 18 u kan buy alks and dat would be able to drink drive more.
i don't think you should change the driving age because most kids look foward to turning 15 so they can drive and if it does change most of them will probably steal cars and drive anyway.
ithink it should stay 15 why should our friends be able to drive when there birthdays are in april and may and they turn 15 but when we turn 15 in december we cant drive because its gone up. in the middle of the year. if 15 year olds dont feel confident driving they have a choise to wait untill they are ready. and apprentices like a young mechanic like myself soon, will need a licence to get to thier jobs. and school kids who live out in the country and need to get up at 6.00 in the morning or want to get to town to play sport or catch up with mates and dont have to rely on thier parents all the time. i think it should stay at 15.
this is stupid all the gover ment wants to do is fuk peolpes lives up why the fuk is he worried about doing this there are way more serious thinys 2 worri abou than doing this and fukin evey 1ns life up i hope that that fag see this emailhow would u feel when ur birthday is soon and now they wana change it im leaving skool nexy year how can i get to work im 14 mi bdae id on 22 feb i say leav it as it is there should b a nz vote ne way can vote and if we get more votes to stay as it is then it should be.do a vote for the whole of nz ne 1 can vote faggits
Reading the comments our young people have written it seems obvious they are not mature enough to be behind the wheel! Grow up kids! and we should keep them off the road till 21!
