We, the students of the East Greenbush Central School District have had enough of our mascot. We are tired of being portrayed as a community which would encourage any devilish or satanic behavior. When people think of our district, they think of Devils, or Devil associated activity. If this school district would ever wish to continue in a recovery from being known as "The Shooting School", the first step lies in a new mascot, which portrays a more acceptable image. When the EGCSD can spent billions of dollars in unnecessary adjustments to the Columbia High School, such as the enormous glass dome roof in the lobby, and the general "beautification" of the building, and not put any effort into making the school community's reputation more acceptable, it portrays the idea that Columbia High School cares more about spending money on making the school look fancy than making it a better place. All we ask it that the school would change it's mascot to something of a greater appeal to the world. Why can other schools have family friendly animal mascots, while Columbia is forced to be known as a group of devils? We hope the administration can find it in themselves to change the mascot to something friendlier. It would benefit the community as a whole, and even make the school a safer place.
