I support this petition. Its about time the Legislature deal with reality and cut spending. Oh boo hoo for the poor, the needy, the children, the homeless, the most vulnerable. I've just about had it with that tired old line of crap !!
I support this petition. Although I live in Washington, I work in Oregon, and I drink Oregon-made beer. This tax makes no sense. It will have an extremely negative impact on the craft brewing industry in Oregon, which is a major part of what makes Oregon special. The government should be supporting this industry, not hampering it.
I support this petition.
I also feel that this tax will hurt our local economy. There are 5000 local jobs in Oregon based around our brewing industry. In these trying times, is it really necessary for us to eliminate well needed jobs. Dont eliminate legitmate jobs.
Please.
Mr. Phillips
I support this petition, and I WILL vote for the other guy next election. Stop this attack on small businesses. Bad idea, bad timing, wrong aim. Go back to the drawing board and be rational.
Increasing the cost of beer for the brewer will be reflected in higher prices at the tap. This in turn means that fewer patrons will be visiting bars, pubs and restaurants as they will see their bill at the restaurant raised. This will only serve to stifle business. I do not support the proposed beer tax.
Doubling the tax makes sense, but the proposed rate is insane. Beer (alcohol in general) in moderation has health benefits. Tax cigarettes, soda pop, and junk food if you want to target unhealthy behaviours and products.
WE Oregonians are already having a tough go of it here in Oregon. If the taxes increases are put into effect not only would people lose their jobs but the folks that do have lower paying jobs would have but less beer therefor affecting the folks in the brewing business. Please leave our beer brewing alone.
I support this petition. Flat out, it will not create the revenue the state hopes for, after running its' reign of destruction on Oregons award winning craft brew industries.
