As a fan of many of the craft beers made in Oregon and available for purchase in Hawaii, you will be shooting yourself in the foot by driving up the tax per bottle so high. Oregon beer is already priced at a premium level and I am reducing my purchases as it is given the current economy. This tax increase will destroy the craft beer industry in your state.
You might collect more tax per bottle, but sales will go down and you may end up collecting even less overall as some relocate to other states or shut their doors completely.
The craft beer industry operates on much tighter margins than the major brewers. You can raise taxes and Bud, Miller and Coors will end up being the only survivors.
While not a resident of Oregon, I do have one son attending U of O and do support the Oregon economy by paying full tuition to the Eugene campus as well as rent an apartment there as well.
I'll still be purchasing craft beer if you jack up these taxes, it just won't be much that is made in Oregon.
I support this petition. This proposed legislation is not a sin tax but it is an anti-small business tax. This would damage micro breweries across the state. Id we want to increase taxes on beer we need to do it in a way that does not put Oregon's fine micros out of business.
I strongly oppose the proposed beer tax increase. A case can be made for a modest tax increase to bring Oregon in line with surrounding states, but 1900% is outrageous. The proposed increase will cost Oregon brewers the equivalent of one family-wage job for every 1,000 barrels of production. Yet another chuckle-headed quick-fix solution for a problem that requires some serious system thinking.
I support this petition. I travel to Oregon as a tourist primely for the beer. I would be hard pressed to continue spending my money in Oregon if this prejudiced tax passes.
I support this petition. It will have a DEVISTATING EFFECT on our local economy - not promoting but instead eliminating many jobs.

I support this petition. Just because the economy is awful doesn't mean beer drinkers should be unfairly taxed. Microbrew is one of the things that makes Oregon a wonder place to live, and taxing such a unique thing about Oregon is totally unfair.
I support this petition. At a time when both the local and national economy has been crippled, it makes no sense to penalize Oregon's burgeoning local craft beer breweries, pubs, and other small businesses with such an astronomical tax increase. It flies completely in the face of logic.
I support this petition. What I would really like to know is what blubbering imbecile actually believes that any of the revenues will go for anything but pork and lining political pockets? Quite frankly, the last thing we need to do is hurt the one industry that does well in trying times and lose more jobs. I don't see anything in that bill about Enforcing Current Age and Consumption Laws nor about Tougher Licensing Standards. All I see is a conglomeration of indeological drivel and nonsense.
