Facebook, Rape is NOT Funny

Since the creation of the page "It isn't r.a.p.e.... It's SURPRISE SEX. (:" and a simultaneous complaint on March 31, Facebook has refused to enforce its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities which reads: "You will not post content that: is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence."

As of the creation of this petition (July 16), Facebook has ignored complaints for 107 days about this disturbing and hateful group that has over 42,000 fans and is filled with rape "jokes" and links to "humorous" rape videos. Yet, a homophobic group with zero members and zero content was deleted in 16 days

Facebook's refusal to exercise judicious oversight consistently sends the implicit message that rape jokes are socially acceptable. They are not and we would hope that somebody in Facebook's vast organization would have the common sense to realize that.

We demand that Facebook not only remove this group immediately and begin proactively removing groups that are hateful toward women specifically, and to any group that engages in hateful rhetoric.
