Halo: ODST is being released as a standalone expansion of Halo 3.

One of the major points that have been advertised for ODST is a new multiplayer mode, Firefight. While this appeared to be a major part of the game when announced it was later stated that this mode would not support matchmaking.

What this means is that there will be no way to play with random people. While this doesn't quite appear to be a major down-fall it shows weakness.

Halo ODST now has no true multiplayer. You must already know people that have ODST to be able to play with them in the campaign or firefight modes. This drops the ability of people to play the new modes freely by a large number.

Many people do not have the ability to take time out of their day attempting to gather enough people together to play a match or two. We strive to be able to join and play quickly, much like the Halo 3 multiplayer provides.

There is no excuse that the Firefight mode does not allow a matchmaking lobby for us to join with some other people to play with. While they have told us reasons they are not valid and there is no reason why the time could not be taken to by this point to get this ability in.

Without multiplayer this game has nothing. There is no true reason to purchase ODST. With a very short campaign and no 'actual' multiplayer abilities ODST is a overly rushed game that is missing key factors to be worth our extra money.

This is a demand to Bungie that there be, by no later than between Jan 1st. and Feb. 30th 2010, a free DLC introduced that implements matchmaking into the Firefight mode.

This is more than enough time and there is no reason it can not be done. Bungie says there will be no DLC for ODST and therefor with the games release have nothing else to work on ODST wise other than what is requested here.

There is respect for the work they did to make ODST what it is but without proper means of interaction between the players it leaves the game to be dry and not what it should be.
