It has been reported that Queensland Anglican Church Grammer School is forbidding male students from attending the year 12 formal with the partner of their choosing; specifically, a same-sex partner (here is the link http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23531997-29277,00.html). I believe this to be a gross inequality and is disproportionate to the church’s move to employ it’s first gay priest, which was applauded by the gay community as a move in the right direction for anti-discrimination, and a more tolerant, accepting society. As a member of the gay community, and a member of the Christian faith, I take great offence to this infringement on basic civil rights as well as it being particularly demeaning to young people. Simply 'banning'something does not mean it ceases to exist. The students body intends to challenge the school's administration on this ruling when the school term recommences. You support for the students of Queensland Anglican Church Grammer School, and the rights of young people in general, is appreciated.
