Please, please Oprah...HELP!!! Millions of people watch your show and admire you. You could help spread the word to millions of people who have no idea what goes on.
I think it would also be a great idea to bring on your show celebrities who adopt their animals rather then buy.
I agree with other people when they say that u are a voice that gets heard. PLEASE expose this dirty business and work to put an end to the suffering of all animals. We have to be their voice they cannot do it themselves
Please expose this ugliness to the unknowing public, so that we may gather enough momentum to stamp it out.
Perhaps petitioning a number of nationally syndicated shows would be a wise descision...
Dear Oprah, talk to anyone who does canine rescue, the sad fact is that many of the cute pet store puppies, were never properly cared for or socialized, often people are either not educated on how to deal with the many problems or just not willing,so guess what, the next stop for fido is the animal shelter
Last year I rescued a beautiful five year old girl pug from a filthy, disreputable breeder who kept the dogs in small cages and kept getting them pregnant over and over with no time to heal in between. They received basic food and water and were never exposed to humans or let out of their cages except to do their business. When I first took Dollie in she would back into corners and shake so hard in fear. I'm happy to report that now, one year later, Dollie is a happy, people loving little girl who brings me love and laughter ever single day!!!
If she does a story on this, it may bring attention to this problem for a short time – but the real solution revolves around individuals. 1 - Refuse to do business with people that own puppy mills – If you think by purchasing some to save them you are only encouraging to keep their practice up to make money. 2. Do not charge outrageous fees for puppies littered at home – the reason people go to mills are because they are cheap and puppies are always available. I have no desire to breed any of my dogs, but if I did, I would give them away. (P.S. Going to need a lot more signatures than this – spread the word)
Each year more than 9 million animals enter shelters throughout the United States alone. Out of that number only a very small fraction (far less than half) are actually adopted. They remaining residents will be euthanized. Tell me, why would any individual who is blessed with moral values feel good about profitting from operating a puppy mill?? Please help!
There are so many pets being put down every day due to the lack of good homes, continuing to churn out more puppies with no thought for their future is reprehensible. Please help to educate those who are unaware of the plight of those poor animals they see in pet shop windows. Thank you for your help.
Please, please save these wonderful dog's. It breaks my heart every time that I think or read about a puppymill. It's very heart renching to hear, see or read about it, but people have to know and stop these kind of thing from happening. They (nothing) deserves to be treated like that! We help our childeren, we help our neibhors, now isnt it time to save dogs. Dogs are our family members to and if we saw our mother, daughter or sister going through that would we help them? People can help there selves (for the most part) and speak-up for themselves dogs can't. We have to speak for them and what better way to do it...Oprah. Speak to millions of caring people at once. This has GOT to be done, said, expressed!!!
Please Oprah. Help us to expose where pet store puppies come from. People are brainwashed in this country. They think
that if a dog has "papers" it is more valuable. Fact is, the puppy you pay big money for may not even be related to the
dogs on his "papers."
I operate a rescue shelter in Edgewater Florida and am in the process of moving to Costa Rica to establish one there.
Check out my web page at lighthouserescue.com please, for before and after stories and for more info on puppy mills.
Oprah, I first learned of these puppy mills through an email from a friend of mine that does German Shepherd rescue here in IL. The stories that I read were disturbing to say the least! These poor creatures tied up in filthy awful barns, cages, shacks, etc., go without food and water for weeks, most have genetic mutations from inbreeding and years of abuse. It really made me sick to think that in today's world, where these loving creatures give us so much, we are allowing this practice to happen. Please help us do something.
Oprah, please do this show out of the love you have for your own dogs. Please HELP speak for those who can not. The dogs in the puppymills really need you!!
The majority of the public does not know what a puppy mill is, nor do they know the conditions that they live in. If Opra would address this problem, the public will listen.
Please stop this horror. You as a dog lover know that dogs deserve to be loved, not stuck in tiny cages to produce with little or no vet care. And no love and affection.
