Oprah, this is such a crucial issue, particularly around holidays when people give petstore puppies as christmas gifts. Petstore puppies come from puppymills, where dogs are kept in horrific conditions. Please blow the lid off this one!
I adopted a dog that had come from a puppy mill raid. she had been severely beaten, lost an eye, had no idea how to play, and was scared everytime you would lift a hand. A year later after living with us, she is living the high life and almost a normal dog again.
Don't forget backyard breeders, too. Not as bad as the puppy mills but hurting the different breeds. And what is up with those designer dogs?! Labradoodles?
Oprah, you have a chance to do so much good here. People will listen to you in a way they won't listen to "animal welfare activists". And this is a topic of interest to EVERYBODY who likes animals. Thank you.
Exposing puppy mills would be a huge service to all the innocent animals that suffer this horrible ordeal for the sake of man's greed. Thank you for your consideration.

This is a subject that needs to be shown to the public to inform them of an industry. We believe that this industry(puppy mills) is costing taxpayers hugh sums of money in the controll and disposal of unwanted pets. Scores of people are trying there best to provide loving homes to pets that are discared in muberous ways.
Unfortunately we live in a free enterpirse society with little control over the business practices and ethics of the so called puppy mill owners. As an animal contorl officer, I see the negetive effects of the inner breeding occurring at puppy mills. Not only are there significant health issues raised by this form of breeding, but also the temperment of individual dogs is now unpredictable. In theory a family could purchase a standard poodle fom a mill, but end up with a temperment of a more aggressive dog.
Write your congressman/woman.
It's sad to see animals at the pet stores selling for hundreds of dollars, when I know there are rescues that have every breed you can imagine, waiting to be adopted.
Dear Oprah and Staff, please use your power and influence to help educate the public and protect the animals that who are willing to give so much but are unable to protect themselves. Thanks for all the wonderful work that you do.
You have such a wide audience that really is interested in what you have to say. Please expose these puppymills to help the animals. We need your support.
Puppymillers have to be exposed. Show them for the cruel murderers they are. Dogs are suffering extreme pain day and night, in ways that will make you vomit. Please help stop this horror for the dogs.
Education is the key.. Not only are the animals suffering but so are the owners.. medical problems, expense and then the pain of watching them suffer or die.

Please help us to expose the horrible world of puppies being bred for sale in petshops at places that are so awful that it makes people sick to see them. These places are called puppymills by rescue groups. Can you picture an Amish gentleman...who goes out to the cages behind his barn and takes out the old female dog who produced only 1 or 2 puppies....or worse yet was so stressed that she stepped on them and accidentally killed them....this gentleman then kills the old female dog. She isn't "earning her keep" and believe me this happens but it's not only Amish people that do horrible things like this. Please listen, read and study and above all talk to some rescue groups. We CAN talk to you in a calm way telling you about things our people have seen themselves. You'll be glad you did.
I've seen first hand the outcome of a poorly run "Puppy Mill". The public wants to slander the Shelters and Rescue workers for their love and devotion to all the non-wanted puppies, but at the same time will purchase a "pure bred" puppy from a store with out knowing it's background and disposition. The most logical approach is to have mass productions shut down, wich will increase the demand for Shelters and Rescues .... along with adoption rates. In the end we are all saving lives by adopting the puppies that need a second chance, closing down the Puppy Mills, and preventing those puppies who should have never been created.
I love my furbabies, they are god's creatures and do not deserve to be born in puppymills. Please expose them. An informed public will not buy from puppymills, help educate the public.
Please Oprah, this is an issue that not a lot of folks are familiar with or realize how widespread and awful this situation really has become. I am currently watching a local puppymill owner go to trial and hoping he gets prison time. 129 dogs were confiscated and all in ill health. please help!!
I have four rescued scottish terriers. You reach so many people and could help so many dogs that are living in deplorable conditions for the sake of the almighty dollar.
Please bring the horror of puppymills to the forefront and tell what a big business it is with the Hunte corporation pumping out 1000's of puppies, how they transport them in 18 wheeler in less than humane ways and put them in the puppy store to be sold. Please tell how sickly these little puppies are with multitudes of health and socialization problems. Please tell how the mothers and dads are kept caged, in their own urine and feces without so much as a loving touch of the a human hand. Tell about the studs that are given Viagra, yes Viagra to make them produce even more. Tell about the ones that have made it out of the puppy mill, thrown away like trash by the miller and how many of these poor, sweet dogs have gone mad, walking in circles, cowering in the corner, snapping at the air with a blank look in their eyes. Please Oprah, you have the power to bring all of this to the forefront and reach millions of people and educate them on this horror that occurs every day, in this country and in the world.... please.
Let's educate the public about Puppy Mill horrors. There are 30% of Pure Breeds in KILL shelters NOW, waiting to be adopted.

One voice, yours, could make a huge difference. Please expose these monsters, and educate the public on where they are really getting their pets from when they buy them from pet stores. It would be extremely selfish not to do this. Do we really need to see another celebrity guest on your show? I don't think so.
While informing the public about puppy mills and why they're so WRONG, the show could also be *positive* by making people aware of successful, reputable rescue groups or shelters.
I work with wwww.pointerrescue.org, a national rescue, and I think that exposing the everyday person to puppy mills and shelters would be a great way to make people aware of the problems with doggie over population. It might also help rescues like our own gain recognition and help us find foster homes and adopters for these poor dogs.
I think that the information needs to get out there. This is a horrible situtation. There are shelters everywhere killing puppies, because there is no space for them. We need to help get the public aware.PLEASE OPRAH HELP THEM,THE PUBLIC LISTENS TO YOU, THEY RESPECT YOU. THANK YOU

Oprah, please show America where these puppies come from and where they usually wind up--shelters to be euthanized. Many people in this country still don't realize how many animals are put down in shelters each year. I think only someone with your stature can truly open their eyes. Please help! I know that you are an animal lover too!

You are a public figure that many people no matter race, religion, whatever look up to and respect your opinions. IF you were to do a show on the horrible life that a puppy mill mother had to endure in a small wire cage, with no medical care, living in feces, as well as other abuse, just to have litter after litter until she was too old to have any puppies, show how the puppies are taken away from their mommas at 4 weeks instead of 8 weeks so they can be shipped to the pet stores or hawked on the internet while they are still tiny and cute, And the puppies not being vetted, or treated right by pet store employees, to be sold to the highest bidder, or anyone who comes in with enough money to buy a puppy would make people think twice about purchasing a puppymill puppy. These poor dogs have just enough food to get by, live in filth, get no human interaction other than to pick them up and take their puppies away, and live a very sad, lonely and neglected life. Often they are not good representations of the breed no matter how much they tout that they are papered dogs. They are just being bred to death. I applaud all the efforts you make on behalf of many charitable causes. I would like to ask you to open your heart and do a show on what not to do when going to buy your puppy/dog and perhaps dogs are not gifts, nor are they disposable. They are lives you will be responsible to care for for many years to come. Perhaps with your support on this and requesting that people spay and neuter their pets and do not breed, we can make a dent in the gigantic pet overpopulation. I thank you for your consideration to this matter.
It's heartbreaking to see what is happening in these puppy mills. Not just in the eyes of the puppies but the eyes of the mother. Unsanitary conditions, neglect and being caged to the point that many don't even know what it is like to feel grass under their feet. I hope you strongly consider investigating this issue and will add it to your show. Thanks Oprah.
