OPRAH THESE POOR TORTURED DOGS DESPERATLY NEED YOUR HELP. THESE GREEDY PEOPLE ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY, NOT THE WELFARE OF THESE ANIMALS. PLEASE HELP THEM AS ONLY YOU CAN. THIS ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED TO EDUCATE AND STOP THE SUFFFERING OF THESE POOR UNFORTUNATE ANIMALS. THANK YOU.
Having worked with the "released" parents of pet store puppies, I can personally attest to the cruelty of puppy mills. Please inform yourself, Oprah, and then inform the nation.
Stop this pain and suffering, many puppies are killed due to so much inbreeding they are deformed or sick. We have enough animals naturally. And that is still another over population issue.People making money and business's off this is SICK!
We have lots of information that can be shared if you can take this puppy mill issue on. The Hunte Corp. gets paid from Our government to over see the puppy mills. SO this means that Our Government is wanting them to exsist. If people would quit buying dogs from Pet stores that would cut down the amount of dogs who are being breed.PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Puppy mills not only harm the dogs that live and are born there, but they also degrade the breeding line, so future pups will end up with even MORE problems. Please help in whatever way you can.
Oprah, for the love in your heart with your dogs, please help all the others that are so less fortunate. America needs to know about the horrible puppy mills.
I had a heartbreak puppy. Didn't know she was from a mill. Her health broke at 2 yrs old and she only lived 2 more years. I would like 5 min with the person who bred her.
Get laws passed to stop this terrible practice. Encourage people to get their pets through the Humane Society. There are thousands of them available. I know, I volunterr for our local one and we can't keep up with lost and injured animals.
Our pug Amelia came to us from Pug Rescue a year ago. She is a happy little dog now, very different from when she arrived. The first 5 years of her life were very sad-- she was used like livestock. Please expose puppymills-- and publicize the amazing and inspiring work of rescues/rescuers. You have a voice; please speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Oprah you have the best means necessary to do something about this. You are wonderful and can also bring attention to the horrible conditions of Mempis animal shelter in TN. Just go to their website and see that every animal in stray/holding cages are just waiting 3 days to be put to sleep. It's awful...all animal lovers across the US need to know about this shelter and puppy mills. Thank Oprah!
Dogs deserved dignity. Please help stop the cruelty of puppy mills. Stop portraying the Amish as a simple people, they're some of the worst perpetrators!
Please Oprah, you would be able to give America a much needed "slap in the face" by exposing puppy mills. You wil be mortified when you see the conditions these animals live in. It will pull at your heart strings. It will make you think about your own dogs and how anyone could allow this to go on. Thanks
The people who run puppy mills all they care about is the MONEY they could care less about the animal. To see one of these mills you would get sick it is so crule. We need a voice to stop this so please help. Thank you Mike
Thirty three years ago my husband bought me a puppy from a puppy mill. It was my first month anniversary gift from him. I went with him to pick her out (a little poodle), and I was so upset and appalled at the condition of this horrible place, my first thought was to turn and run. Then I saw her, sitting behind a crate, eyes watering and so tiny and frail you could have knocked her over with a feather. She looked up at me with those sad, brown eyes, and I knew I had to take her with me. My husband didn't think we should buy her, but I couldn't leave her there. After much love and vet care, she grew into the smartest, sweetest dog any one could ask for. She was with us for close to 16 years, and I thank God we were able to save this little girl. I am still reminded of that filthy, dirty place with breeding dogs stuck in smelly, dirty cages with with nothing but uncaring, insensitive people who only care about making a quick buck! Please Oprah, HELP!
Oprah, I know that you are an animal lover yourself. PuppyMills are an ugly industry that must be exposed. Most people have no idea where that cute little "doggy in the window" comes from. They would be appalled.I live near Missouri, the Puppy Mill Capital of the USA. Check this out. You can do so much for our furry friends!
I am fostering a little mini-Doxie that was used by a backyard breeder to crank out puppy after puppy. If you could just see how pitiful she is----it is just so heartbreaking.
If it's true that these dogs are being made to have litter after litter until it's unable for them to do so then I say with a resounding *YES* that this behavior be STOPPED!
This issue needs someone with high visibilty to take a stand and shine a light on it. Oprah has dogs of her own and how anyone who has animals can ignore what is happening to these helpless creatures is beyond me. AS they say if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. C'mon Oprah champion this cause!!!! Do this for your dogs!
Oprah, Please help put an end to this horrible industry. No living creature should be subjected to the conditions these animals spend their entire lives in. I pray that you will take on this project!!
The show could show a bit about puppy mills, but then focus on the great work of adoption groups and inspiring happy tails stories to promote adoption over purchasing puppies. The success of Petfinder, the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets campaign and hardworking rescue and shelters and happy adopters would provide the good of how people are solving the problem.
I would love to see more shows on Petfinder focusing on animals – and how they inspire people to do good. Rescue transports would also fit well into an Oprah show. There is the heartwrenching problems of lack of spay/neuter and very visually adoptable puppies in the south dying every day, and there are dedicated rescuers who save their lives and bring them to happy adoptive families. There are many miracles and acts of kindness that Oprah can spotlight!!
Take care,
Beth
Have you ever seen a dog that is meant to do nothing except bring in profits for the owners? Their haunting eyes implore you to release them from their prison. These sweet creatures deserve to live the life God intended. Imagine your precious babies being used for nothing but breeding stock. There is hope for all of the dogs that exist in these conditions - make puppy mills illegal! You have the power to bring this deplorable act to light. In doing so the American public will become outraged & join as one voice in shutting down the puppy mills. I BEG you - please investigate this and when you do I firmly believe you will step up to protect these innocent creatures. Thank you for your kind consideration.
Someone has to speak out regarding this horrible practice. Puppy Mills are not only crule and inhumane, but also keep deserving dogs from being adopted from shelters and rescues. Oprah, in your capacity, please help us change the couse for puppy mills by speaking out against them, in effort to shut them down.
Given that now even People magazine has come out with national information basically supporting puppy mills and irresponsible sales of animals, someone at a national level needs to step up and present the other side. Thousands of people work every day, with and without pay, to shelter and rescue the millions of throw away animals that owners get rid of each year. There is also a very position story there in the often heart rending and emotional process of assisting these animals. It seems like a slam dunk for good television, good reporting, and good humanity. And if not you, then who?
Puppy mills are a business built on greed and misery. You are one of the very few who would have the courage to expose this cruelty. I promise, this will be a rating buster.
I realise it is tough to stand tall against these people but it is a necessary thing to do. Dogs are living breathing critters, and we need to champion against their mistreatment. Imagine a sweet puppy girl forced to live in dirty crowded conditions only brought out to be bred, and then left to have her pups and have them just removed to be sent away, and not seeing any attention until the next breeding?
Oprah has been such a positive voice for so many other causes and people have listened!! This issue is extremely important and Ms. Winfrey is in a position to make change.
If you want to educate your audience and keep them informed, then please do a show on puppymills and the horrors involved - these dogs NEVER get out of their small cages, never see the sun or know the joy of a loving pet from a human. The lucky few that are sold at auctions are so traumatized it takes a great deal of time to socialize them to humans - but once they know they are truly free of those cages you have never seen a more happier or loving dog! Please also showcase the efforts of thousands of people who spend their free time helping these dogs, and shelter animals, find a better life! This is so much more important than the latest interview with the current hot celebrity. I guarantee most of the general population has no idea of the conditions their puppy they bought from a pet store had to endure!!
Oprah, you have done so much for so many with your show now please, help the helpless animals that are used and abused everyday just to produce more animals for more profit.
There are thousands of dogs in rescue right now due to overpopulation. Spaying and neutering the pets that live with us just is not enough.
We need to stop puppymills and we need to stop them now.
Between 4 and 6 million dogs and cats are euthenized every year (HSUS statistics). That means approximately 10 animals are euthenized every single minute.
Please, use your influence to help educate people and stop puppy millers.
Dear Oprah:
Please make time on your show to put a FLOODLIGHT on this despicable business operation.
I can't believe there are so many people who STILL don't know what puppy mills! And it pains me to know my home state (Missouri) is one of, if not THE biggest offenders (number of mills).
People need to be educated about the source of the puppy they buy. Mall stores will tell folks they "don't get puppies from mills," they "get them from brokers" who, in all probability get them from PUPPY MILLS.
Oprah, you are the one person that could really help here. By exposing puppy mills on your show would have a tremendous impact on putting a stop to them. This world making puppies in the puppy mills for money is a terrible life for those innocent dogs that hve to live in cages in condtions that make you sick.I love my dogs and I am animal lover and want to see these puppy mills shut down and those people that run them stop making a good living on the breeding and selling of puppies. Stop them from subjecting the adult dogs to a life & conditions no animal deserves to live in. I hope you will help shut down these puppy mills.
I hope you will help open the eyes of folks that bury their heads in the sand and allow animals to be used/abused for profit. You seem like an animal lover, you love Solomon and Sophie (I too have a Sophie) and hope you do this in thier honor, that all dogs deserve to be treated like yours are.
Ms Winfrey, please have your people look into this cruelty to dogs. We need to educate the American people so that the puppy mills can and will be stopped.
Please stop the puppy mills. They are not reputable nor do they have any compassion for the animals. God did not create an animal to live or be forced to continuously breed in this manner. These mills and those that run them are disgusting and need to be exposed and stopped.
I love in N.C. where I have seen more stray animals here than in downtown Detroit. There are 4 animal rescue leagues in one small county, and people still going out and breeding dogs for fun and profit. My husband and I are considering moving so we don't have to see all of these homeless animals anymore!
This needs to be addressed all over the US. People need to be aware and do something about this. Also we need to bring attention toward shelters like Memphis ANimal Shelter in TN that are just as bad as puppy mills...they kill like 40-50 dogs and cats a day...it's disgusting and the conditions there are horrible. These dogs don't have any chance if left there...Oprah please help out also with the worst shelter in America...the MEMPHIS ANIMAL SHELTER!!!!
I'm praying that you can help us, Oprah, take care of God's little creatures. They are so defendless and need all of our help. We would appreciate anything you can do.
