With so many dogs being put to sleep every day because there are SO many out there with no where to go, we need to put a stop to these kinds of businesses. They are not about bringing joy to a family (i.e. a pet) it's about making money and it's WRONG!!!
With the holidays around the bend, pet stores will be pumping these puppy mill dogs out only to be filling up the shelters in January and February when the families decide they aren't what they wanted after all. Show the world what these puppy mills look like, all the public sees is the cute dog in the pet store!
Please use your show as a vehicle to expose the spectrum of inhumane practices that are prevelant throughought puppy mills, thereby decreasing demand through education.
Puppy mills are just wrong! If any decent human being saw the conditions of puppy mills, they would never buy a dog from a store...as long as there are people who purchase dogs from pet shops, there will always be puppy mills.
I am also a rescue volunteer and many of the dogs that have come through our rescue organization are dogs who were once puppy mill dogs who churned out puppy after puppy with no relief. Oftentimes they have health conditions brought on by the living conditions and birthing they must go through to churn out pet store puppies. These mills are in it for the money. Imagine being forced to be impregnated repeatedly, having to pump out children over and again. It is physically, emotionally and mentally stressful as are the living situations many of these puppy mill dogs are meant to live in, with barely any human contact and no space or comfort for living. The life of a puppy mill dog does not resemble "life" no matter how you look at it. It's more like a death sentence. It is so important for the public to know these things in order to remove the demand for pet store animals. Without the demand, these puppy "factories" would have no business and these wonderful animals might be spared a fate worse than death. Adopt a rescue animal, there are so many homeless animals in need, there isn't even a need for puppy mills! I know Oprah can relate to the love of a dog and what special creatures they are....please use your remarkable influence to change the world for animals!

Please help educate people on the horror of Puppymills, and to stop buying those cute little Puppies in the Pet Stores, since this is where the Pet Stores buy their puppies from!! Puppymills breed their dogs every heat cycle, and the majority of these poor animals live in filthy, squalid conditions, without the benefit of any Veterinary care, whatsoever!!! They are sick, and suffer miserable lives. Please help give these animals a voice. Thank you so much!!!
This is a fantastic idea for a show. The general public should really be aware of where puppies come from - and encouraged to adopt abandoned animals from shelters rather than supporting these animal abusers. Thank you!
Take a trip to your local shopping mall. Stop in the Pet Store and see what kind of shape those pups are in.. sick, flea ridden, kennel cough, upper respiratory infections, worms, kennels too small and lying in their own feces... hmmm, would you like to live 24/7 in a spot too small that you couldn't stand up and move around. This is where puppy mill dogs go to. Think about that when you cuddle in your nice, warm bed at night!
Having worked with numerous rescue agencies over the past 30 years, I know all too well the horrible conditions these innocent canines must live in. We must no longer turn out heads the other way and allow this to continue! None of God's creatures should be subjected to that type of bondage!
It has been our experience that puppies from pet stores are not as healthy. We've had 4 pugs in our married life and the one purchased from a pet store, suffered illnesses and died early. Please expose this henious act. The more negative publicity that they get will help to shut them down. You should let everyone know that that cute puppy store window dog may have some major health problems that will not show up until they are older and then it is to late to anything but love the dog and what time you may have left with them. i train dogs and work with rescues..and i believe puppy mills are a crime and inhuman..i have heard of many storys from other dog rescue organizations that have shut down puppy mills and they need to all be closed and people need to be aware of what they are and what happens at puppy mills

Those puppies from "pet stores", generally wind up with genetically poor animals (seizures, convulsions, disorders of all kinds). The pups have come from puppy mills, not responsible breeders. Oprah, please expose this wretched business, encourage shutting down every puppy mill in the U.S.

Oprah has the biggest heart. Due to her concern for world issues and hate for mistreatment of all beings I feel that puppymills are a topic that would create recognition/attentiion worldwide.
I know you have a dog you love very much. Imagine your dog being starved, chained without shelter during intense heat and intense cold, never seeing a vet for vaccinations to keep her healthy and to prevent contagious and life threatening disease. Imagine her being used to breed, without any human contact other than being beaten. Thinking of your dog in that situation makes you ill, just as it makes me ill. But the reality is, millions of puppies are born each year by irresponsible persons known as puppy mill breeders. Half of the dogs in shelters and rescue are from such puppy mill breeders. I am not affilliated with any rescue, but as one person I do what I can rescuing dogs abandoned, getting them medical help. Sometimes we rescue them just in time, other times, the poor dogs were found too late. Many of these 'breeders' turn their female loose or take her to a shelter when she's no longer needed, and much of the time, the female is ill, malnourished. Everyone who has signed this petition isn't looking for money from you, all we want is to save these dogs and educate people and stop puppy mill breeders. Your dog loves you unconditionally, please, give something back to her pack by exposing puppy mill breeding.

The public needs to know what is going on. There is a stigma that "pound puppies" have something wrong with them since they are at animal control. The truth is, mixed-breed and pound puppies are the best dogs there are! Thousands of young, healthy animals are euthanized every day because of overpopulation from backyard breeders and puppy mills. Puppy millers breed their dogs until they can't produce anymore, then they kill them or abandon them. Puppy mill dogs are overbred and inbred. The puppies at petstores are products of this horrendous practice. Please do a show on this. The public needs to know where their "purebreed" dogs are coming from.
