BEING IN TO RESCUE AND SEEING UNRESPONSILE PEOPLE BREEDING PUPPIE, IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU DID A SHOW TO BRING AWARENESS TO YOUR WATCHERS.IF YOU DON'T RESCUE, DON'T BREED!
THANKS
please help educate the public and expose the cruel, greedy people who mass produce these dogs. The horrors these animals suffered is gut-wrenching. Many of these "pet shop" puppies end up euthanized or discarded due to helth and behavioral problems. We see so many purebred "pet shop dogs" in our shelter when they get older due to this factor. Mill dogs aren't bred for temperament or health, or even to "better the breed". If a dog has "papers", that's good enough. Please help.
i wrote to you b/4 asking for help with exposing the puppymill horror and the outcome of letting these places keep breeding.this is only the front 1/2 of the problem, you see the unwanted shelter dogs that get pts--sometimes not humanely--are abused in some of these horrible places--please check out WWW.nochancearkansas.org as only 1 example thank you
Please help us shut down the puppymills. The only way we can do this is by educating the public about what goes on with the animals in them and by convincing them that it is not in the animals best interest to purchase those adorable little puppys that they see in pet shops. The parents of those puppies are abused, starved and not given medical treatment when needed. For animals that are supposed to be our companions and that help so many in their everyday lives it is terrible that we allow such places as puppymills to exist. Our goverment promoted these terrible places after world war II, but they never watched to make sure that these animals are treated humanly. Please help to educate the public about these terrible places and the greedy people that run them.
OPRAH, PLEASE HELP BRING ATTENTION TO THE ABUSE AND CRUELTY OF THESE WONDERFUL SOULS...MOST PEOPLE WHO PURCHASE ANIMALS FROM PUPPYMILLS ARE NOT AWARE OF THE CRUELTY THESE ANIMALS ENDURE AND THEREFORE THE SUPPORT OF THE MILLS GOES ON. PLEASE HELP THESE GIFTS FROM GOD GET THE VOICE THEY DESERVE AND NEED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
I've been working with rescue for several years. I am appalled by the way the "millers" disreguard the quality of life these dogs have. They are truely nothing but breeding machines. If exposure reached your level, and we could educate the public on where to look for a pet, we could put an end to all the suffering.
We need YOUR help!!.
You can help to expose these puppymillers to the public so they can be aware of the origins of that next puppy they are looking at buying from a puppymill source. Please help stop this suffering!
Dear Oprah,
As a rescuer of dogs who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or sent to a kill shelter, I can't tell you how much you would help dogs by exposing "puppy mills." So many well-intentioned people buy a cute puppy in a pet shop, not having any idea of where it came from. Many of these dogs actually end up in shelters because of health problems the purchaser cannot afford, or their impulsive purchase of the cutest little face quickly turned into a puppy who chews, poops, scratches and barks - things they didn't think of when they bought the adorable baby. PLEASE HELP! Puppy mills create so much suffering. You can make a huge difference. Let me know if I can help you!
Oprah, Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network (CPCRN) has rescued hundreds of these poor little ones from this evil, heartless industry. If you could see them or SMELL them you would know instantly that this cruel greed-driven industry must be exposed for what it is. ANIMAL ABUSE. Please use your incredible power to help us educate the public. The ONLY way we can stop this abuse is if the dog loving public understands that THEY hold the power to put an end to it by simply refusing to purchase puppies from pet stores. Because every time they buy that cute little puppy in the window, they have signed a Purchase Order for a lonely, sick, abused and malnurished female, languishing in a filthy crate in the cold and dark, to be bred yet again to replace the puppy that was just purchased. It's ALL supply and demand. Your power can help us stop the demand. And when it does, the horror in these mills will stop. Please help us help them. You are the ONLY one who speaks directly to the people, and the only one they will trust to tell the awful truth.
Oprah,
Please help, I purchased a dog from a puppy mill. At the time I did not know this, but soon found out. After the dog got sick and after may trips to the vet the dog had to be put down. Broke my heart to know that this type of thing is allowed to go, and not only is it ripping people off but the dogs are suffering to, and they do have feelings, so I am asking for your help, please.
These poor pups just barely exist in the deplorable conditions at puppy mills, met with thirst, hunger and cruelty every day, never to play, feel their feet on grass, or most importantly, feel compassion and love.
I have a former puppymill dog (adopted from Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue). He is free but not without paying a physical price first but many other former mill dogs are left with permanent emotional scars if they are fortunate enough to live free after being in a mill or "commercial breeding facility" if that term is more palatable. Many Americans *still* don't know puppymills exist. PEOPLE MAGAZINE (Nov 2004 issue) highlighted a teenager who started a business basically brokering dogs, a future miller I think. Please educate people worldwide about puppymills or "commercial breeding facilities" and the shame of this business.
ypu have more influence than anyone else on tv. please do a show about the atrocious reality of puppymills and have a couple of reputable people explain how people should identify a breed that is a good fit for their family and lifestyle and where to get such a dog.
Dear Oprah,
You are one of the strongest voicest the people have. Please help end shelter overpopulation by exposing the puppymills. Breeders must be held accountable for the conditions and quality of their animals. Thanks for considering this request.
There is no question that your voice is one of the most influential in our country. Please use it to help these innocent souls who have no voice.Thank you.
Oprah, I know you love animals, please help with your expertise at getting the public to look at things closely, you can make a big difference in the lives of these unfortunate animals.
Oprah, please help expose puppymills to the public. I am sure once you saw the plight of these mistreated animals firsthand that you would be compelled to help shut puppymills down. Many people are not even aware that puppymills exist. Animals are not "just animals; " they are God's creatures that deserve to be treated with respect. Dogs are loving, loyal animals who trust humans for their well-being...they cannot help themselves, but we can help these animals who give us so much love and companionship!! Thank you and God Bless!
Oprah, Please use your celebrity to expose the horror of puppymills in this country. Only people who are well-respected like yourself can reach the millions of Americans who know absolutely nothing about the horrible conditions breeding dogs are kept in. Please help to expose this national disgrace. Thank you.
Please go to www.puppymillrescue.com and read Emmy's store. Look at her before and after picture. See what was done to this darling little dog. People want pure bred dogs so they go to pet stores. Have you ever asked yourself where the puppies there come from? Most people don't know a "reputable breeder" they just go to the pet store. These pups are not bred responsibly, and they are not always healthy. It is sad for the puppy but it is so much worse for the puppy's mom and dad. The parents exist solely for the purpose of breeding the pups for these stores. They do not live in nice warm houses...they live in thrown together pens, outdoors with filthy water (if any at all) only enough food to keep them alive and producing. No vets. No gentle touch. No kind words. These survivors are autioned off if they live through this abuse and sold sometimes to another puppy mill and this is their life until they die. Did I mention the cages? A lot of them are in cages to small for the dog to stand up and it is kept there all its life. Its little legs never grow properly and sometimes they can not even walk. But they can make dollars for the miller and the puppy stores. If they don't they don't get to live at all. Some of us have managed to buy some of these dogs out of their prison and we try to show them that mankind is not all ugly and hurtful and uncaring. We take them to vets, we have them altered, have tumors removed, eyes repaired or removed, have liver shuts fixed and try to make their remaining years joyful. We have to first gain their trust. Oh Oprah, they give it in inches but they do give it. They forgive. They LOVE. They are so responsive to the slightest kindness, gentle touch, or softly spoken word. They teach us what forgiveness truely is. You are in a possition to let people know about these things. You have the power to educate the American public. I am not rich. I live on my Social Security check and I can only help one or two. Th
Oprah, you have so much influence on the very people who would buy these high-priced puppies, perhaps unaware of the conditions. Stopping them would be a giant leap toward solving the homeless animal situation in America, but more importantly, it would stop the suffering of these poor innocents.
Oprah,Christmas will soon be here...so will the puppies from the puppy mills. these dogs will be taken to shelters within months after Christmas as they had no early socialization. they will be euthanized. millions of them. please read about puppy mills on the internet and do a special show on this. the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States would be happy to be some of your guests as would animal rescue group representatives, celebrities, etc. please help the public to make an educated choice this Christmas.
If Humanity can learn to respect animals, then perhaps we can learn to respect one another, which has to be the basis for all your shows Oprah. Please listen!
Dear Oprah: Countless people respect and admire you including myself. You speak frequently of your beloved dogs and airing a show exposing the deplorable conditions of puppy mills would have a remarkable impact for helping those that cannot speak - only bark and whine. Maybe the show could include Bob Barker, someone from the Doris Day Foundation, ASPCA or the US Human Society also to speak on behalf of many shelter animals available and the responsibility to spay and neuter. I know there are countless stories of shelter adoptions where the dog ended up saving a person's life.
Please Oprah, you can be the voice for these dogs and puppies who so desperately need one.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Revealing, on a national level, who who supplies most of the animals sold pet shops is long overdue. Oprah, one hour of your time would end the the suffering of literally millions of animals.
Dear Oprah,
I know you are a compassionate person who has a heart for people and animals alike. I am asking you to use the platform that you have to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, and dedicate a show on the horrors of "puppy mills" and to promote adoptions from shelters across the nation.
I remember Dr. Phil recently adopted a pup from the shelter also, and he also promoted adoption as well. Thank you and God bless!
Dear Oprah,
You help so many, won't you please help the innocent puppies that are brought into this world unhealthy, in misery and with no hope for a life like your precious dog(s) have? Imagine her being forced to give birth to litter after litter of puppies...before she is even healed from the last litter. These dogs are often bred with their offspring for lack of a mate, and the resulting puppies are apt to be born with defects, making them unadoptable to those looking for a "cute" little puppy. Imagine your precious one being kept in a 2x2 cage with moldy food, little if any water, no exercise, love or room to move their aching muscles. I, as a volunteer for rescue organizations, can truthfully say that there is an OVERABUNDANCE of adoptable animals already out there, with not enough people able or willing to adopt. This means unnecessary euthanasia of healthy, loving animals who simply never had a chance to love or live. These puppy mills simply exacerbate the problem tenfold. Won't you PLEASE use your powerful voice to help expose these "puppy mill monsters" for what they are; greedy, unfeeling and cruel individuals who would be best served spending the rest of THEIR miserable lives in a minute cage...??
With sincerity, and sincere thanks,
Most of the public who purchase puppies from puppy mills are not aware of the inhumane conditions in which the animals are kept - the breeding mothers and fathers and their unhealthy, unsocialized, badly bred pups. This is one of the saddest, preventable problems that unsuspecting buyers and shelters deal with every day.
Please help by using your tremendous power and influence to educate the public, possibly change some very needed law, and better the lives of thousands of mistreated animals. In the name of respect for all life, please expose the shameful puppy mill industry. It will truly open your eyes.
Oprah please inform people about puppy mills! A lot of people have bad opinions of dogs because of unhealthy mill dogs they have purchased! Please have a show on the dangers of buying from a puppy mill and what a puppy mill is!

Dear Oprah-I am a college educated dog trainer and behavior consultant in NY. I also do a tremedous amount of canine rescue. Your credibility is widespread audience is a perfect venue to help educate the public about the horrible puppy mill problem inthis country. There are enough dogs in shelters, many turned in because their owners found that the behavior problems that arose once a puppy grew into a mature dog was too much for them to deal with or too costly to try to remedy. Puppy mills churn out puppies at a high volume, caring only about how flashy the dog is and how many theycan breed to sell. No concern is given to health or temperment This is the biggest difference between puppy mill bred dogs and dogs reared by responsible breeders. Not to mention the awful circumstance and lack of care the mother dogs receive. Please help those of us who see this problem and deal with it everyday in our practices raise public awareness. We CAN stop puppy mills from flourishing over time, but only through education. Who better than someone like you with you large target audience and credibility to champion this cause. many thanks..
I have a 4 month old chihuahua mix that is a Mother/Son breeding. This is the dumbest dog I have ever encountered. I got the dog from my best friends Aunt who breeds only for the money. Her house is a pigsty. Nothing but filth and she just keeps breeding. In fact she has a litter due very soon.
please oprah use your well deserved and huge fanbase including myself to let the public know the unhumane way these canines are manufactured. also bethany, thank you for bringing this issue to light.
Dear Oprah,
How can a woman in your powerful postion deny bringing the worlds attention to such awful acts of cruelness?
I would think as someone who has experienced pain and suffering at the hands of selfish greedy people (I'm talking about all the sexual abuse you endured), that you would want to help these innocent defenseless creatures. They are victims, just as you were. Cruel and greedy people trying to make gains for themselves, without any regard or remorse for the merciless pain they inflict.
You have a duty to help. God put you in a position of power to help the world. They are a creature of Gopd and part of this world too. Don't think of them as insignificant just because they are puppies!
Please remember what it felt like to suffer, and look at how much suffering these innocent creatures endure.....then maybe you will be moved enough to help. I pray that you are.
What do you have to lose?
Ratings? I think you're okay on that one. They lose their lives, by the millions.
Save some lives Oprah.
All puppies are cute---that goes with the territory. Some puppies come from careful, responsible, knowledgeable breeders who take every precaution that their pups are sound in temperament, health, and structure. Such pups are NOT the product of backyard breeders and puppymillers. Yes, wonderful pets come from everywhere, but the odds are against when the pups come from a puppy miller.
