I am so glad that someone famous is willing to help out the unfortunate furbabies sitting in those horrible mills!!! It's about time that someone other than us little people to help these poor creatures out. I can't wait to see what she does to expose them and their cruel purpose for the animals they put in those pet shops. It's time for the world to see what exactly happens to that cute little pet store puppy when the owner can't deal with the problems that come with them.
DEAR OPRAH, I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE WHO SAY, "THEY'RE JUST ANIMALS." AS A MEMBER OF THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF CENTRAL LA. I HAVE SEEN THE RESULTS OF PUPPY MILLS. WE HAVE RESCUED ANIMALS WHO HAVE LIVED THEIR ENTIRE LIVES KNEE DEEP IN FECES. THEY ARE KEPT AS LONG AS THEY ARE MAKING MONEY FOR THE OPERATORS OF THE PUPPY MILLS. THEY LIVE HUDDLED IN SMALL CAGES WITH VERY LITTLE ATTENTION. THEY ARE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABUSED, THEN DISCARDED LIKE TRASH. I WISH ONLY HELL FOR PEOPLE WHO TREAT GODS CREATURES THIS WAY! YES, THEY ARE ANIMALS, BUT, SO ARE WE!
let's show the public what's the reality behind the puppies in the pet shops across the country.how the doggy parents are suffering mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.these animals desperately need help.please reveal the truth to the nation about something that hapenning right here, under our noses...our ignorance and indifference contributes to their misery.
Oprah, please educate the public about puppy mills. We believe people will view the "puppy in the window" much differently. Please help us spread the word about the terrible problem of pet overpopulation and the devastating rate of euthanasia in the country. Many wonderful pets including many purebreds are waiting in shelters and with rescue groups to be adopted by loving, caring families. Puppy mills are part of the problem.
Ive saved a dog that was in a puppymill and just used for breeding. It didnt no how to act.It didnt how to play.It was scared to be out of its cage because thats all it knew. The beeder up and moved and left 6 dogs in cages to die.
puppy mills and people who breed "designer dogs" need to be stopped. You are able to expose this horror to America and then people can decide where they want their dogs to come from.
I'm a foster home and volunteer for a purebred rescue group. At several of my personal dogs came from puppymill situations and the scars, both visible and invisible, are heartbreaking. If people realized that the cute puppy in the store window came from these horrendous places, they might help put a stop to these profiteers.
You are so very right. I know Oprah
loves dogs so hopefully she will help us do something to expose the Mills. It makes me sick when I receive emails from the SPCA re:rescueing dogs from these mills. Thanks for doing this.
In addition to puppy mills, it would be extremely enlightening for people to see our current public "shelter" systems where dogs are housed. Private shelters are entirely different, at least in Los Angels where I live and volunteer. The county shelters are tragic places and I believe if folks knew about it there would be an outcry. I liken our current shelter system to the Child Labor movement when people finally saw children as something other than a resource. Until people recognize that animals are more than property our shelter systems will not change. I read somewhere that “the question is not can they reason, but can they suffer?” Right now, we volunteers and rescuers are simply putting a band-aid on a hemorrhaging wound. Until the community gets involved and no longer tolerates our current system of “animal control” we are stuck.
Many thanks for all your good work.
Truly,
Jennifer Bradley

Also, another subject would be to explore how laws need to be changed on a Federal level to give animals some basic rights to help with many of the issues they are facing today. Minumum requirements of animal care are just way too minimum!
Oprah,
As the founder & director of an animal rescue group, I have seen the neglect and abuse of animals who have been in puppy mills. PLEASE use your voice to stop this cruelty for profit!
Many of us struggle every day trying to save neglected, abused and abandoned animals, and we need help. We are weary and downhearted that most politicians and public figures never use their status to help the animals. Please help us save the animals. Our voice is the only one they have.
Sincerely,
Elaine van der Linden

Oprah, I ahve always thought you should be our next president. You are the most compassionate, level headed person I have ever seen. If anyone can do something to expose puppy mills and the sad plight of the dogs there, it is YOU. Please help us end this cruelty to animals.
No one should be allowed to make money at the expense of the well-being, mental and physical, of the animals involved. This practice is immoral and should not be tolerated anywhere in this country.
Little puppies made to have little puppies over and over again. Please help stop the buying of helpless abused animals. Most are diseased and don't live very long lives in tiny cages without a pat on the head or a good girl. They need someone to stick up for them, lets get the word out to everyone.
We know how much love you have for your dogs -your friends andncompanions. Many dogs are not so lucky..
Puppy mills are a big business and a source of unbelievable suffering. please help raise awareness for of the conditions of puppymills and educate America like only you can. YOur dogs will thank you!
You've supported so many causes that have changed lives. Here's a chance to head a national movement against the abuse and exploitation of animals. Don't turn your back on the helpless ones who need you so much.
