As an Akita rescuer in the Missouri (the puppy mill capital - I'm sad to say) PLEASE help us expose and stop puppy mills. Some of the things I have seen would make the most hardened criminal cry.
God Bless.
This tragic reality can be improved upon, with public exposure and its resulting action. Please consider this as a future show topic--Oprah can do so much good toward exposing and preventing the horrendous cruelty that "man's best friend" endures in puppy mills.
You have the influence to help so many voice-less creatures just by talking about it on your show. Please expose puppy mills for their cruel and inhumane practices.
Please help get the message out that these puppy mills are just a way of making money they care not about the quality of life but the quantity they can produce. Back Yard breeders are just as bad. Neither one cares of producing the best quality breed they can. And if people knew how many times the moms are bred repeatedly and then disposed of later on.And the living conditions are horrific.
Please expose these horrific conditions to the public....people should know how these animals are abused! Thank You Oprah, you have the power to make a difference....
We rescued our dog as a puppy from a local pound and have been so blessed. Instead of buying from petstores please at least do research and go to a reputable breeder or better yet the pound or breed rescue program which you can easily find online.
Mark Twain once said that you can judge a society by the way they treat their animals. Let's show the rest of the world that we are not all heartless individuals who are only in the animal business to make money!
Oprah, you have shown that time and time again your are overflowing from compassion. whetehr it is battered wives or those that are sick!!! well these animals that are being bred for profit only, are victims of abuse and neglect and do not receive ANY medical care or love! Please once more, please stand up for those who cannot stand or speak for themselves!!!
Opry, Please help expose the POW Camps for Dogs-Puppy Mills. I have a Scottish Terrier from a puppy mill. She has been living the good life for the last two years I have had her. She is a sweetie!!!
Oprah,
You've been such a force for positive change in this country, and it would be quite wonderful and exciting to see you do a show on this important topic. People know that they can trust you to act with integrity and would listen to any message you would deliver on this live-saving subject.
Someone needs to bring the puppy mill situation to the public's view, otherwise, this abuse of animals won't stop! People need to be educated on the puppy mills and advised of the numerous pure-bred dogs that they can find at their local animal rescue!
Hoping for your help,
Pat S.
Rescuer, Transporter, Foster mom, and adopter of three kill-shelter rescuees.
So many dogs die each year because of the irresponsible behavior of these breeders. And spaying and neutering pets is so vitally important. Please consider featuring this topic.
Please educate the public regarding this cruelty, these animals depend on us to speak for them. Until the public knows the facts these puppymillers will continue to profit from the inhumane treatment of animals for the sake of a dollar.
Please help, this is a disgrace that needs to be stopped. I had heard the term of 'puppy mill' but didn't really understand until I saw the information offered at www.prisonersofgreed.org. I am sure there are many more like myself who would be appalled when they understand what goes on in these places. Thank you for considering this petition.
We slaughter hundreds to thousands of dogs each day in pounds only to breed more under disgusting and inhumane conditions. This practice must be stopped. Oprah, your affect on issues like this is immeasurable. Please help.
Please Oprah - You have the opportunity to bring this message to so many, to help some of our smallest members of society who cannot help themselves.
Thank you,
Linda Antonicci
Companion and other animals are too often treated as mere products or raw materials without any respect for their lives, let alone the quality of their lives. They are victims of our violence, neglect selfish desires and the drive to own and consume to excess. If we are going to breed, control and use animals as companions and food resources, we must insist that respect and health are priorities.
Please help, Oprah! You'd be saving both animals and the people who buy the sick dogs. People need to be educated about this so badly, and you could reach so many people at once.
