Dear Oprah,
Pleae help us educate people about the conditions that exist in the 'Puppy Mills'. Not all breeders are reputable. Please lend your support and help us expose the conditions that these dogs must exist in.
Dear Oprah,
You often do shows on angels who help humans. How about a show about the people in rescue who are angels to the many abused animals they care for.Barbara
you have done so much for the people of this country. Maybe you could do just 1 more thing, for the dogs that are dying - expose puppy mills, stores that sell puppies.
Please do this. I will help so, so many animals in this country. People that run puppy mills have something metally wrong with them, their money hungry. They need to be stopped or they will keep doing this, and keep killing animals. Please do this. It would be greatly apprechiated by man and animal. Thank-you.
Dear Oprah,
You have the attention of the world. And you love dogs. Please help expose puppy mills for what they are. So many would be educated if you would do a show on the cruel treatment of "woman's best friend" in puppy mills across the country. Please help those who can't speak up for themselves.
Oprah,
As a fellow animal lover, this subject should be near and dear to your heart. You can reach millions of people with one show. Please help us help those who can not fight for themselves...They have no voice other than ours...
This loving pets don't deserve to spend their lives coop up in cages for life. They are God's creatures for companionship NOT money making. Please help the public be more aware of these situations.
Oprah,
You have the platform and the capacity to help end the suffering of literally thousands of animals, and all it will take is ONE SHOW. An hour of your time to help so many. Please consider using your powerful voice to speak for the ones that cant. And to help end the suffering.
We would be grateful. Thank you.
Dear Oprah,
Please help get the message out about these animals...you can reach so many people with your show...the viewers listen to what you have to say...
Three years ago I was oblivious to the huge number of animals in need of homes, cast aside or abused/neglected by humans, those they should have been able to trust: most often their owners. This is when I became involved in rescue.
The puppy mills are in it for the $MONEY$. The animals are not kept in nice, clean cages with good food and vet care..it's just the opposite. If we can get the word out about these conditions, maybe we can do something to start to stop/address these horrid conditions.
THANK YOU Oprah, for all you do on a daily basis to reach out and help people in each and every situation, and do a quality show that everyone looks forward to. Please bring this information to the forefront with your show as the vehicle. It's a sad, sad situation, but that's never stopped you before! And all the more reason to address it and educate the public about where those cute little pet store puppies come from.
We hope you can bring attention to this terrible situation Oprah. I know you have dogs and love them. And I just know that you would be appalled at this situation. I know you could help those who cannot speak. Thank you.
Puppy mills cause alot of problems to the owners with there little pups, people think they are getting a good healthy puppy and it's not true, puppies structures are'nt right there bones are'nt right they have helth problems and temper problems.I know because I found out the hard way with my first newf.
its against all laws of nature to kill animals not intended for foor. puppy mills put more dogs out in the world in an already crowded world. please encourage people to spay or neuter their pets.
The general public needs to be made aware of this . Your show would be a wonderful opportunity to inform the people, as so many people watch your show.
I personally used to think think it was disgusting that for serious issues like this to be raised among regular people celebrities need to discuss them, but I know it's an effective way to stop it, so so be it.
People need to be educated on Puppy Mills..these are bad places for our best friends to have to live and make babies all their lives. They need human contact and a very loving atmosphere. I know you can help get the word out to stop these aweful Puppy Mills.
Oprah, When you speak, people listen. As an animal lover your words can make a huge difference. As someone involved in purebreed dog rescue, we constantly have to help dogs coming from these horrible puppy mills. The stories break our hearts and nursing them back to health, when we can, drains our resources.
Please help those who have no voice.
Please consider doing a show on this subject millions of people are getting riped off and buying a sick animals and millions of animals are suffering everyday.
MS Oprah. Please help to expose the terrible conditions that exist in these puppy mills. How could you look in the big sad eyes of an abuse puppie and not want to help?
What if your darling two dogs were kept in a cage all their lives just so they could have baby after baby for profit? Please, the animals in these puppy mills are desperate for someone to save them. Oprah, you have the chance to do this. You do so much good for humans, please extend your helpfullness to these poor animals that do not have anyone fighting for them on the scale that you would be able to. We, as animal lovers, are begging. Thank you.
If people only new that the cute little puppy in the pet store window was from a puppymill and it's poor mother was being bred time after time then maybe they would realize it's wrong to buy pet shop puppies.Just show a few pictures of horrible puppy mills with the filthy conditions they live in.
Oprah, people respect you and know what you are telling people is the truth. People are so unaware how most puppy stores get their puppy's. These places need to be exsposed. Please consider doing this!
Please educate the public about puppy mills.....and Show them what Dog Rescues and Dog Shelters are all about. Also, people NEED to know that there are WONDERFUL dogs waiting in these Rescues and shelters. People need to know about the Dogs put to sleep in this country. There is no need to purchase dogs/puppies from pet stores that come from these horrid puppy mills.
I think putting the word out about Puppy Mills on Oprah would be a wonderful idea! Working with rescue I see what happens to these puppies all the time. Those mills really need to be stopped!
I am active in a national breed rescue and have seen first hand the mental and physical damages wreaked upon each and every puppymill dog. A recent dog auctioneer stated, about a dog with symptoms of serious health issues visible at 30 ft, that "You Don't Need Ears to Have Puppies." I've fostered dogs blinded from neglect, dogs so traumatized it took months to just touch them, and they all needed 4 baths before you could let them in the house. YOU HAVE A POWERFUL VOICE - Please help us educate the public about where their Christmas puppies came from.
I think the biggest reason puppy mills can thrive is lack of education. For many, the Oprah show is THE way to educate themselves on many issues. Please take this issue close to heart. We truly can make a difference for these poor little puppies.
My daughter is very active in rescues and the stories that come along with these poor pups are heart wrenching - something needs to be done to protect these innocent creatures.
I share my home with a darlin' little sheltie mix who was born without eyes...the result of either a bonafide puppymiller or a backyard breeder. Fortunately, she was dumped at the pound because they could not sell her & not taken into the woods....
Please help these poor animals. My neighbor bought a puppy from a pet store (PUPPYMILL) and at 5 months of age it developed severe hip dysplasia. All due to poor breeding to make a buck. Please help.
Oprah-So many people watch your show and respect you and your opinion about things. You are an animal lover and you must help educate the people about what a puppymill is, what goes on in them and how we need to stop them NOW. Thanks!
Oprah
I spent 7 years in the pet industry selling pure bred pups. I wrestled with the moral issues for years but the truth is I made a nice living at it.
I rationalized that atleast we are putting them into good homes. The truth is that MOST pet stores do support these mills and do not take proper care of it's pets. There are exceptions but for the most part consumers ae lied to and misled on a regular basis. They are encouraged to buy a dog that will not match their lifestyle and we all know what happens afterwards.
This is the busiest time of the year. Retailers are planning to sell hundreds of dogs in the month of December. Don't let upscale stores, fancy websites and classy names fool you. Here on the east coast, especially in Mahnattan and Bergen County, there are several stores claiming to be a community of dog lovers offering handpicked puppies.
These dogs are trucked in from the west and are treated like a piece of stock. The profits are incredible, especially in Bergen County where the typical household is affluent.
I've said a lot, you have the power and the influence. Be the voice for these pets and do your homework.
Don't let December's pet sales become January's shelter arrival.
Please bring this to the public to raise awarenees about the terrible conditions and treatment of these poor animals. They have no voice and we need to speak for them.
A show on puppy mills would be good. Add to that the availability of dogs from shelters and rescue organizations, as well as what a reputable ethical breeder goes through to improve the breed.
Oprah- Please help us spread the word on the horrific conditions of puppy mills and the extremely inhumane treatment of our companion animals. You do so much good in this world with your show, we beg you to please help us help those that cannot speak for themselves!
Thanks you,
Gayle
As a volunteer for Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network, I have had several puppymill dogs placed in my home for foster care. It would break your heart to see how damaged these puppies are. Puking up worms, terrified of people, paws, ears, tails chewed off... well the list could go on. We are looking for a voice, somebody that can alert people about buying from pet stores which get their puppies from mills. Christmas is coming and it would be so nice to get the puppymill message out there.
