I have had a puppy mill dog and she couldn't be trained. She was a lovely timid little dog but was only used for breeding. I got her when she was 3.
Since she was caged all the time she could not be trained to live with people. She preferred to live where she felt at home in a cage.
May the person who did this to her have to answer to a higher power.
Oprah, although theres not a single simple way to fix the animal overpopulation problem in our country, Exposing the real truth behind puppy milling and wholesale brokering is a start. For every puppy bought from a pet store, the funds brought in from that purchase makes available funds for 3 more puppy mill puppys to be bought by the store. And lots of stores now advertise that they only purchase from breeders. No reputable breeder sells a puppy to a store never to know where that puppy will end up. It only takes signing the registration form with a name instead of a Kennel to look as if its a breeder instead of a puppy mill. This fools a lot of people. And these poor animals live lives of producing puppys with little care of health or cleanliness. Its a horrible life for the dogs and cats, all in the name of profit. Ask any person who does purebred dog rescue how many rescue dogs we take in that were originally pet store purchaes???? Any one with plastic or cash can buy any dog, right or wrong for them....No questions asked. I pity the poor Saint Bernard who will live on the 3rd floor or a tenement building. I could go on, but Im running out of room. PLEASE help.
Even sadder than the babies that are produced in puppy mills are the breeding dogs who must live their lives in unthinkable conditions. Many of these dogs endure horrible suffering day after day after day. The sad thing is that most of them don't know what it is like to live in a loving caring enviroment where they can run and play and just be a dog.
Oprah, please educate people on puppy mills. I put way to many babies to sleep each week with no help from them. The shelters and rescues are just full and need them to STOP! Please Help Us. Thank You Pam
Oprah, you have done so many wonderful things for so many people and animals over the years. Please use your amazing strength to help these wonderful animals who have no voice, who have no choice.
Please stop these people and educate that this a very cruel and ihumane operation. I grew up with two dogs that my parent's saved from a puppy mill. You have to get them out of there!!!
Please stop the horrific suffering of these animals. 14,000 animals a day are killed in this country. We don't need forced births in the name of greed. Please end their suffering.
Not only will this show end suffering, it will educate and inform the public on health issues that they face or may face with the purchase of a puppy mill pet. Thank you.
Puppy mills have been a long running business that brings alot of disease to the pet population. Please expose them and bring them to light so that changes can be made!!
This practice is atrocious... what heartless money hungry people could possibly find feel the need to do this to make a few hundred dollars. Please help uncover this horrific business and help it come to an end!
Oprah, you have been blessed with the gift of being able to help people cope with living in this troubled world. Please help our animals. They are souls too!
Oprah...you have been given a gift to reach people with a message. Here is the message: Puppy mills are animal abuse. Please stop the abuse! Stop buying puppies from puppy mills! Urge lawmakers to legislate against and prosecute puppy mills!
I don't know why we are so surprised at what is done to animals when we know what is done to children. What is done to the least of us...I want to be a voice for those who have no voice in our system.
Dear Oprah, please help us to reach the public and educate them about the horrors suffered by dogs in puppy mills. Every year millions of dogs and puppies are euthanized in U.S. shelters--please encourage your audience to adopt a shelter dog instead of supporting the cruel puppy mill industry.
Not only does this kind of thing exists for puppies, it also happens with cats. The same conditions exists in both situations. Both puppy mills and catteries are forms of animal abuse.
Oprah I know that your voice is requested to speak on many politacal agendas. Please don't regard this petition as another innate cry for helpl. Please act! People will listen!!
OPRAH! You reach in to so many homes and hearts each day. It would be such a blessing for you to at least have on rescues so that they could explain the horrors of puppymills and the over population of these precious souls (furkids). Only one person needs to be touched to continue to spread the word and help these tiny voices be heard. YOU have saved many many lives and we in the animal community hope you will help us save many more as well. Please help us spread the word.
Although this cause has received some attention, unfortunately, the industry still flourishes. Hopefully, afternoon, prime time publicity could stop the trend.
Oprah, I know that you are an animal lover as well as a humanitarian. Please show your love of animals and educate people on the horrors of puppy mills and the fate that these poor animals share.
