I dont think many people know what happens to animals in "puppy mills." Or, that if we eliminated such things our shelters would be cleared of homeless animals. Please help make the national public more aware.
Thank you

Please help us stop these puppy mills. I have done saint bernard rescue for 12 years and have shut down a few mills myself. The horrors are just that......Horrible! Thanks.
Please, please, Oprah, do take a look at those places that seem to have one too many dogs for sale. These Puppy Mills are only in the business for ONE thing-that is to MAKE MONEY! They care nothing about the health of the puppies they sell. Some of these puppies are born with such terrible defects that don't show up until they are 6mo or older! They care nothing about the conditions these dogs live in, or how old they are before they start breeding them! OR if they are being bred too close in breed lines. They just push them out as fast as they can.
Please look at your own dogs, or cats, think about how much you would miss them if they had to be put down for a defect that could have been avoided just by breeding responcibly!
Animals are too helpless to us humans and need our protection. There are too many "pets" being mass produced to make a buck! Please protect these precious babies from further abuse!
AKC purebreed puppies with papers purchased from inferior breeders does not a good puppy make. Any pure breed is entitled to their lineage papers, but that does not mean quality breeding practices were utilized. Puppy mills are notorious for overbreeding their *****es during each estrus cycle. Imagine if women were forced to be impregnated each ovulation cycle and retained in a cramped cage until their babies were born and sold. Puppy mills give good breeders a bad name by often producing genetically inferior blood lines. Innocent, well intentioned people are purchasing these puppies at prices that exceed a quality breeder's cost. The public needs to be educated so they can make educated decisions when purchasing a pup. Thank you for your attention to this hennous act.
I really believe people would be outraged if they knew where pet stores got their pups. I would also love to see a companion piece on breed rescues and the volunteers who run them.
Oprah,
I have a great deal of admiration and respect for you as an individual and know that you have a great deal of influence with the public. Whatever you can do to expose the real problems of the public purchasing puppies from puppy mills would be a great service to ending the inhumane treatment that poor dogs receive in these places. It would also educate the public to seek to purchase dogs from reputable breeders where potential buyers can see the puppies parents and also how the puppies have been raised and cared for by the breeder.
Please Oprah, use your fame to help stop the puppymillers throughout the US in order to stop the pain & suffering of thousands & thousands of caged dogs. Please!!!
I/we are the proud owners of a rescued minpin! He was abused before being rescued and is now a spoiled boy! It's time to put an end to the puppy mills!
I bought a dog from a very bad pet store and i know that my baby came from a puppy mill. I only had her for 12hrs in my arms before i had to bring her to the hospital. She died of Parvo and Severe Enteritis. I have two animal rights lawyers working on my case and i have complained to everyone and made complaints to USDA, Vet Board. You name it complained to them. I am not giving up. My baby deserves justice for her senseless death. She died two days after i got her. I could not play with her, love her, cuddle with her, anything wit her. She was so sick. OPRAH PLEASE HELP THOSE WHO DONT HAVE VOICES!!!!!!!!
Please Oprah...I have watched the miracles that you have made happen, just by the awareness that you bring to subjects.
THIS IS A TRAGEDY AND THE POOR ANIMALS SUFFER SO, PHYSICALLY, AND MORE SO PSYCHOLOGICALLY..
PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS MONEY MAKING VENTURE AT THE EXPENSE OF ANIMALS.
Did Oprah...
Please help spread the word.
After this HORRIBLE article in People Magazine, Nov. 8th issue....about the Teen Titan Timothy profiting from being an internet puppy mill broker...We NEED your help to educate the public and help be "A voice for the animals"
Please consider helping these precious animals who cannot speak for themselves.
More than 50,000 kittens and puppies are born each day in the United States alone. The only kind word or gentle touch many of them ever receive is from the technician who must end their lives because there simply aren't enough homes–or even cages–for them all.
Between six and eight million dogs and cats enter animal shelters across the United States each year. Of these, approximately three or four million are euthanized. Most are young, healthy, and friendly. Many–about 25 percent of dogs who enter shelters–are purebred. Yet puppy mills and breeders continue to churn out animal after animal like tools on an assembly line.
The Woe Behind That Doggie in the Window
Nearly nine out of every 10 puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills–breeding kennels that raise dogs in cramped, crude, filthy conditions. According to Dr. Donald Allen, a veterinarian who worked on Dateline NBC's "Puppies For Sale" segment about puppy mills in April 2000, "dogs in puppy mills are typically kept in inhumane conditions, tethered to trees or confined to feces-filled wire cages."
Female dogs are bred twice a year and are usually destroyed when they are no longer able to produce puppies. The puppies are taken from their mothers and sold to brokers who transport them to pet stores for resale to oblivious customers. The puppies sometimes travel hundreds of miles in pickup trucks, tractor-trailers, and/or airplanes, often without adequate food, water, ventilation or shelter.
Both the puppies and their mothers routinely suffer from malnutrition, exposure, and a lack of adequate veterina
With your help, we could wipe the puppy millers off the map. I know if you were to see first hand the conditions these pups are born into, it would be a slam-dunk. Please consider doing a segment on this.
Please find it in your heart to help these poor animals that are unable to help themselves. We need to pull together and expose and educate people on the horrific conditions these poor dogs live. It is heartbreaking and INHUMANE! Please hear our voice Oprah, we speak for those who can't
A show exposing puppy mills, backyard breeders, pet overpopulation, and importance of spaying and neutering would be great. You'll do one on the dangers of beef - which are minimal - why not puppy mills which are truly a problem in both Canada and the United States. Many people remain uninformed, its not just a protection for the animals - its a protection for the consumer. Help us inform the nations!!
Puppy Mills are merely a way for unscrupulous breeders to make money. There is no thought given to pedigrees, type, genetic weaknesses, etc. A male and female dog are merely put together for the sake of producing puppies to be sold to stores (generally) where the price is jacked up beyond what a reputable breeder will charge. Then, the unsuspecting public buys these puppies. Puppies that have not been properly socialized at the optimum time of their development; usually this results in poor temperament at a minumum. Please do a segment!

This is an important issue that can no longer remain hidden from the mass public. We NEED this to be exposed before the Christmas season. Animals are NOT an impulse buy!
You know the influence you have - you love animals - please put the two together and do an expose on puppy mills. How can the public be expected to know if they aren't told?
I hope that Oprah will do this show,,I hope other talk shows will pick up on it also. People must know what goes on here, how the dogs suffer, are not taken care of, bred until they can not breed anymore and then what happens to them. So much more. The American public must realize this, and help to stop it. Dogs are social animals, they are "our best friends" and should not be caged 24/7.
I got my first yorkie through a puppy mill, did not know it at the time. Dog sick from the start, lost my money and more importantly a dog that I had grown to love. Needless suffering was in store for the animal.
Oprah,
Your a woman with great integrity and moral values. Please do a show on puppymills to help educate the public on this horrible business. I do rescue and it's heartbreaking to see these poor dogs. Your voice opinion go along way to influence the public, please help us educate people on this horrible business.
Your help is needed to expose this terrible side of the "cute doggie in the window". As a pet professional I see the poor products of the puppy mills all too frequently.
There is a puppy mill on Long Island called Yuppy Puppy. This place has a long history for animal abuse and there are weekly protests outside this place. Its in Port Jefferson on the North Shore of Long Island. COnsidering their long history of abuse and neglect (10 yrs, possibly more!) this place is STILL open! Please please PLEASE bring attention to these poor animals plights.
Thank you!

Oprah, I know that you're a dog lover. People don't know that when they buy a dog from a pet store it's coming from a puppy mill. If you did a show on it, everyone would know. Please help.
I am the proud owner of 13 dogs. All thrown away because someone did not want them. Animals are to be loved not locked up in a cage making puppies all their live.
These dogs never know the love of a child, or even the grass under their feet. They are kept in dirty cages with another cage on top. These cages have no way of keeping the rain, snow, heat from the sun out.
Please take a look at where those cute little pups come from that sit in the store windows. And see just how sick they become and how many loose their lives and just how many are thrown away like trash because they can no longer produce another pup.
Please help us help them!
