It will be very dissapointing if Oprah ignores the lives of thousands of dogs that are dying in this very moment in a filthy cage at a Puppy Mill. Maybe her two Cockers came from a Puppy Mill and she doesn't know what their Mom and Dad had to endure; multiple pregnancies in a very short period of time, no food or water, exposed to the elements, and last but not least, breat cancer and evnetual death. I do believe she's an extraordinary human being and her voice on behalf of the animals will be tremendously appreciated and will save thousands of lives.
I have recently started doing public service at a local animal shelter. My 13 year old daughter and I spend Sunday mornings cleaning out cat cages, playing with these sweet animals and trying to get responsible owners to adopt them at a local pet food store. I complain about how the time interferes with my schedule and groan about the measley 2 hours I spend every week. I can not stop and will not stop. Every time I finish I know I've done the right thing. My daughter never complains bless her. These animals, cats and dogs need our help. If only I could do more I would. Will you help us please?
Please help stop the madness that people do to these dogs. They are what give humans a bad name in the puppy world. I love dogs of all breeds and there are enough in shelters to fill every home in America without them breeding more just to live in the conditions they are put in. I have a cocker and I know you have cockers also. I know you would not want them to live in those conditions. You can make a difference. Dear Oprah, People need to know the suffering they are cintributing to by purchasing dogs who come from puppy mills. People should always meet the mother of the pup they are buying and see the conditions under which she exists. Most people just don't have any idea of the suffering that is going on. Please help educate. Thank you for all you do to make the world a better place!
I know you will be able to influence the public by this type of program. They need to realize that if there is no demand for these animals, the breeders will stop breeding because they will not be making any money. The pet stores who sell these animals should be looked into also. They should not accept any animals from unreasponsible breeders. They shoud know the place where the puppies were breed and their conditions. These animals are in filthy conditions. Once the stores stop buying them, they will stop breeding them.
Oprah, I am speaking for the Montgomery County SPCA in New York. There are so many good animals waiting for good homes. There's no reason for these puppy mills to produce more dogs. Let people know the dogs they're buying in pet stores are from puppy mills. Let people know any kind of dog they want is available at an animal shelter or rescue group. We even have cocker spaniels at our shelter!!!
Dear Oprah, I know that you promote many humanitarian causes. We beg you to address this one......the plight of the animals used for breeding in puppy mills. You have done so much good in this world. Please help with this cause. So many animals are suffering and dying without the chance to experience any sort of life or love in these places. Please expose these money hungary people for what they are and please educate the public so that they know what animals go through for them to get the cute and EXPENSIVE little pups. All the while animals in shelters die in large numbers daily. thank-you!
I don't understand why these are still in existence. I believe the statistics show that something like 40,000 unwanted animals are uthanized daily. I don't comprehend the desire or need for "breeding" in general, and specifically the type of breeding that goes on in puppy mills.
The public needs a wake up call and you are the one who can get the message across. As a rescue agent for Boston terriers I see everyday the parents of these puppies and cannot believe as humanes we allow such horrible acts to take place and that these acts are deemed legal. Working in rescue has proven to my own visual the mal-treatment of animals from puppy mills. Bitches and studs are used for factory generated reproduction and then cast aside when too old or unable to reproduce. Our organization, Peppertree Rescue of Albany, New York has assisted many of these cast aside animals in finding a new, loving, caring forever home. Please help expose this abuse.
Oprah, the puppy mills are producing so many dogs and they are ending up in the pounds and being put down. I am fostering one right now from a puppy mill and he is so scared of humans and it taking a lot of time and love to bring him to trust a human. He is a lucky one who made it to a safe haven but there are so many that don't make it. Please Oprah, help us shut down these puppy mills and save the animals. The animals need your help, won't you please help them.
Dogs are dying everday in dumpsters, on roadsides, and by abusive people because of overflow of the pet population. Puppy mills add to this by increasing the population, breeding poor quality dogs, abusing the dogs themselves because they are only in it for the money and not the welfare of the dog or breed or dog. Put an end to Puppy mills. Most puppies in pet stores are from puppy mills, yes the pups are cute but have you seen their parents. Swayed back, bellies dragging, no teeth, being bred to death even if only one puppy survives. Most Puppy mill breeders have no vet care. Lets make Puppy Mills ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Puppies are so loving they bring such joy to children and adults . This is a real tragic thing they do. The puppies are helpless. There are already so many that need good homes they do not need to do this terrible thing there should not be puppy mills it is wrong and cruel to the puppies it needs to be stopped.

It's so sad that if a child is being abused the whole country jumps all over it, however, every day an animal dies from abuse, neglect and starvation. Oprah, this puppy mill business needs to be exposed. There are so many beautiful, loving, helpless animals out there being bred to death. These poor babies are forced to live in tiny cages, standing in their own feces without adequate food, water, and vet care. The only purpose these animals serve is to breed, and breed, and breed. They don't deserve this type of treatment and the people who are doing this need to be punished to the fullest extent. Oprah, please help the general public understand the severety of the circumstances that these innocent lives have to endure. Let's educate the public and stop this abuse. Too many lives are at stake.
I have seen too many pictures of puppy mill dogs that come into rescue heartworm positive, with broken limbs and infected eyes, FRANKLY IT MAKES ME SICK!! Please please Oprah help expose these criminals and help to get a few more out of operation!

Dogs are truly man/woman's best friend.
Far too many of these dear friends are produced only to be dumped. Professional breeders, as well, produce too many.But they, at least generally treat their stock very well and take responsibility for unwanted pets being returned.
Puppy mills are sometimes clean and the animals well treated even if kenneled. But they have many breeding stock animals that do not find good homes, and when conditions are bad the buyers end up with pets that die, no money back, animals often being inbred and thus producing puppies with hip problems, deafness, epilepsy, etc. These people are in the business simply to make money..they raise this livestock as they would pigs, or any other farm animal(the Amish in our area do it and nice as they keep the animals, it is wrong).
Many wonderful ideas have been presented, Ms. Winfield...you are eminently capable and in a position of enormous respect. Please listen to your admirers and take on this cause. Thank you for what I hope will be your serious attention to this plea.
People that own puppie mills need to be stopped. Please help exposure this crulty and education people not to buy puppies from pet stores that make lots of money on the suffering of poor dogs that are bred and bred until they are too sick and weak. They live in hell. You have helped so many. Please help these animals that can not help themselves.

Hi Oprah, I know this is a very hot topic. We will not be able to stop all people from milling animals but when exposed they do take notice, some close, others lose many buyers, with out buyer they cannot operate. Educating th public is a huge factor in your bisiness, of which I think you do marvelous job.
