Puppy Mills are filthy, the animals are in unkept cages with a little attention as possible. No bathing and no tender care. All they can do is get pregnant as that is all the owner wants them to do

I can't imagine the misery puppy mill dogs go through, especially the poor breeding *****es, which are little more than raped slaves. This needs bringing to public attention and to be stopped. Please Oprah, people listen to you, do whatever you can to help. Thank you.
Oprah, I know you are an animal lover yourself and know you wouldn't want your beloved pets to suffer like all those puppymill pets do, so please do something and have a show to educate people on how these puppies get to that pet store and what their parents have to go through for them to get there!

Thanks Oprah, We as rescue people have been trying to figure out how to close Puppy mills. We have two rescue corgi's and they were horrible until we took care of them.
Puppy Mills are as reprehensible as Back Yard Breeders. Both breed strictly for the money with no regards to the health or well being of the puppies or parents. I have heard of places in South Florida where you can take a grocery cart and go up and down the aisles until you find what you want. Matter of fact, there is a teenager spotlighted in People Magazine (11/04/04) who will make $70K+ with this type of business and is very proud of the money that he makes. I am sure that he is clueless as to the amount of puppies that end up in shelters or rescue.
Please help these defenseless dogs by helping shut down puppy mills and backyard breeders.

When I talk to people about puppy mills, most are amazed and say things like "Why didn't I know?" An expose' done on your show may get the ball rolling to shut these canine horror shows down. Please do it.
Oprah, your name and message gives crediability to a cause that mostly goes unheard! WE all work so hard to help these animals out and do this w/out any glory or fame, but because we care. Please give us a forum to be heard. I am just a mom w/3 three kids and a full time job who is one of many families trying to help out out furry friends. I like the saying..Adopt, don't shop!! It has changed my way of thinking about animals after I see how many hundreds of dogs we put down a week in our small city a week! Please help our cause...........
You have only to see the effect of the puppymills to be moved to do something to stop them and stop people from supporting them. Please help us help them
Please take the time to research puppy mills and what they are all about. I don;t understand how they czn be allowed to operate at the level they do. The people who operate puppy mills should have to live in the conditions that those poor dogs are forced to endure.

I have been rescuing animals all my life 1 by 1. I have decided to start rescuing fulltime. People need educated about the problems w/pet overpoulation & what people are doing to make a dollar of these puppy machines left in horrible conditions. Could you find a spot for us?

We in CT ,no matter what location go and retrieve as many as possible,and do find with immediate Vet care on arrival lose the majority merclessly as they were ill when picked up.barbara Pike

I have watched many of your shows and know that your kindnesses always makes a difference. I rescue Pembroke Welsh Corgis. I have seen my fair share of abused dogs, their little sad faces, just wanting a little love and attention. We have a problem at this time with puppy mills in our states, overcrowded shelters and pounds, and people using the dogs until they die in their cages, are so run down, they are killed, or sold by the pound and the bidder told they are good for 10-12 liters more. I have two puppy mill dogs that I rescued from the production line of an Amish puppy mill. Buttons and Daisy are two 8-year olds that had been together their entire lives in the same cage and had never put their precious little feet on grass. They were bred time and time again, no medical care, c-section many times, and would shy away from you because they were scared to death. It made my heart feel really good when I was able to put these darling dogs on grass, see their faces, and let them run and play. But the worst was yet to come. I had Daisy spayed and she was found to have an enlarged spleen, multiple tumors and cyst on her uterus, five teeth had to be removed, a tumor on her gum which, thank God, was benign. Buttons, on the other hand, was also spayed. She was found to have a horrific bacterial infection, consisting of greenish pus, in the entire uterus and also had three teeth removed. She is still being treated for an undiagnosed stomach infection. I feel that your show, if done about the poor animals who each have a story of their own to tell, would make a difference in how people feel about purchasing pets from a store which are puppy mill dogs. You, with your knowledge and wisdom could make a difference in the lives of so many animals who are only looking for a little love and affection. All you have to do is go to a shelter, pound, or puppy mill and see for yourself, the rotten conditions which are placed upon these animals through no fa
Puppymills are not much different than concentration camps...we have a 20 month old that does not know how to act like dog. He should be playing and loving, but is scared of sudden movements and human touch. It will take MONTHS of work to bring this guy to where he should have been months ago. Look at the scares that people carry when they are put into concentration camps or prisoners of war...same thing only with dogs. Please Oprah, with all your exposure and people believe in you...help them believe this!!
puppy mills cause much misery & hardship; many dogs must be anaesthizsized after being rescued without ever knowing a nice warm bed & a loving touch. Please do what you can to help. Puppy mills are not a business, just people looking for the quick $$$
I live in Indiana and work for a rescue group.And also try to help others out when I can.I have personally see the shape these poor animals have to live in and the horrifing health they go through.Please Oprah help these poor defenceless animals who cant speak for themselves.Please as one animal lover to another help us to put an end to theses prisons they call puppymills!!

There are enough homeless dogs in the world, and caring breeders. There is absolutely NO need for puppy mills.
Too many of these dogs wind up in shelters or pounds and never get the snuggles, warm beds, and good food they so deserve. A lifetime of producing litter after litter of puppies while housed in inhumane living conditions is appalling in today's society. These dogs need a voice, and that voice is you. I have 2 rescued dalmatians and volunteer for a rescue organization.Both my dals have significant health issues, one because of indiscriminate breeding and the other was probably a puppy mill breeder dog who was abandoned after she outlived her usefulness.
I think people just need educated. I really don't think they know what happens at puppy mills, or that these cute little puppies at the pet store come from them. If they knew, I don't they they would buy them from a pet store. You speak... they will listen.
There are so many doggies & kitties that need to be rescued & adopted. If we educate people enough, and make the adoption procedure faster, we can stop puppy mill.Please help.
Oprah, I'm sure you have heard of Small Paws Rescue that saves Bichon from puppy mills. They have so many pictures that I'm sure would bother you to look at. This group goes to puppy mill auctions and buys up all the Bichons they can to put the Bichon puppy mills out of business. We are asking in the name of all God's creatures for you to expose Puppy Mills. I can only hope and pray that you will respond to this petition and help all puppy mills dogs.
I have adopted 3 former puppymill dogs. My 4th was fortunate that his mama was rescued before he was born. I know firsthand how the horrible life in the mill can affect a dog. My Yorkie Amy spent 8 years in a mill and suffers everyday for what they did to her. Please help to expose these mills.
Reputable breeders usually will only breed once (sometimes twice) per year, and before they breed, they make sure the breeder dogs are fully tested for genetic soundness . Puppies are also tested, and the breeder will always take back a puppy an owner can no longer care for. Responsible breeders will also rescue.
There is a world of difference between responsible breeding and puppymills which breed indiscriminantly for money, not caring about the pet over-population problem. It is not a product, but a sentient life these mills and backyard breeders are dealing in. Breeding should be a strictly regulated enterprise.
Perhaps if the public becomes more educated they will get behind the abolishment of pet over-populaiton plaguing American life.
Oprah, please help educate the public about the terrible conditions of puppymills and the humble beginnings of all the cute little puppies in the pet stores. If anyone can get this message across, I feel you are the person because you are so loved and trusted. I cannot believe that God put these little creatures on this earth for any other reason than to love and give love. The dogs who are living in these puppymills deserve so much more.
