Puppy mills are disgusting! The breeders promote incest & produce sickly dogs that have to linger with genetic ailments that torment them for their entire & usually short lives.

cruelties that the animals in these mills endure. We have worked with dozens of these poor animals. Unseen they suffer

Puppy mills are humanities worse from of cruel punishment for these innocent beings. If all breeders were to be more closely regulated, I'm sure the pet population would significantly decrease
Please do a show on puppy mills. Perhaps that make those people who purchase from those unscruplous people think twice. It is up the people who purchase the puppies. If there is no market then there will be no puppy mills.
Oprah, a lot of people look up to you for many different reasons. Please give them one more. Help us make the public aware of the abuse and neglect that goes on at these puppy mills. Many of us involved in rescue deal with this horror every week. Most of the population never see it and choose to turn the other cheek when they do. Pet over-population is a very real problem. To help these little babies without requiring anything other than satisfaction is what is needed. That's what I do in producing items on behalf of Shih Tzu rescue. Those profifts go to Shih Tzu rescue efforts. They need EVERYONE's help in this world and more education, in what happens to those not wanted needs to be made bluntly apparent to everyone in the world. Everyone loves a little puppy, but not all love to put the time and patience into bringing them to fruition with the patience, loving, caring and time in a home that they SO deserve to have. Did they ask to be here? Do they soil? Let's think where/what they were born into.
Puppy mills are still rampant in the American midwest. You can help stop the abuse and suffering that they endure, as well as help lower the population of unwanted animals that end up in pounds and shelters every year. Many mill dogs will be abandoned because the people who bought them did so on impulse with no knowledge of how to care for a dog, or because the dog is of poor health or temperament due to its' breeding. PLease help draw attention to the cruelty practiced every day in your country!

To look at the pictures of these animals and see the sparkle of life gone from their eyes due to all the abuse, neglect and disgusting living conditions.......it's heart wrenching. Oprah, please, go visit a puppymill or send in an undercover camera and see for yourself the horrible conditions these dogs are kept in. No socialization, minimal (if at all) vetting, no love............. Please investigate and host a show exposing puppymills and backyard breeders. Please also run a segment on rescues and rescuers. They are the people who take in the unwanted castaways of the puppymillers and back yard breeders.
animals were domesticated by us and yet we turn our head to the living conditions of those animals who want nothing more then our love. Just seems so obvious yet we can not seem to see.
I am proud to be a member of New Jersey Schnauzer rescue. I personally fostered two dogs that were rescued from a puppy mill. They did not know how to do anything, but stand around, lay down, and eat and sleep. The dogs did not know what grass was, as they were used to a life in a cage with a wire floor. The filth is unimaginable. The dogs have no personality. They are like puppies themselves and have to be taught to trust, go to the bathroom outside, and know that their new home is a safe haven for them. I am happy to say, that being around my own dogs helped them to learn what a dog does. The two schnauzers found very patient and loving homes. I live in Lancaster county PA, one of the biggest businesses among the Amish sect is puppy mills. They raise dogs like livestock. They overbreed, and are not caring about whether or not their may be problems down the road with the puppies. Breeders breed to improve the breed, pet stores buy these dogs, and add to the problem of the puppy mill. I am hoping someday that people will be enlightened to the plight of the puppies that end up in the stores......
Oprah, God told Noah to build the ARK for the animals. We should care as much. The Bible says 'A righteous man careth for his animals'. PLEASE help stop Puppy Mills and help to educate the public on how you are suppose to treat animals. They aren't to be tied up, on a chain, or thrown in yards or pens and forgotten about. They have feelings and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, unlike most humane beings. This is such a tragedy in our country. Animal abuse and child abuse have been shown to be linked. How can anyone who would treat an animal the way they are treated in puppy/kitten mills ever be able to show compassion for their neighbor?

As a breeder I can tell you what it takes not to be a puppy mill. It's easy to be a puppy mill, it's very hard to breed quality pups and make a dollar and I mean a dollar. If you do it right you do because you enjoy dogs not because you want to get rich. Please tell people the truth about breeding and puppy mills. Thanks, Jeff
Lets not forget that milling goes for other animals too. Kitties, bunnies, pet birds and even purebred chickens are all victims of milling for the little bit of money they bring in. I say little bit of money because there is no amount of money large enough to make milling
"right" or moral.

Dear Oprah, this could very well be the outlet that is needed to inform the general puplic as the to the plight of breeding for money. To show the amount of disdain the people of the "dog community" have for puppymiller's I will only say that the puppymill is to the dog what the Holocaust is to the Jewish. Oprah, this topic of exposing puppy mills is an opportunity to educate the general public about the ongoing cruelty that these poor animals endure endlessly throughout their short lives. Not many people know that pet stores puppies come from puppy mills and by buying one of them to "save them" they are actually promoting more breeding. These dogs are usually unhealthy or have some rare disease b/c of all the inbreeding and horrific living conditions. Please help eduacate and save the lives of innocent animals. Thank you.
