Oprah,
This is a very important issue that the public needs to be aware of. I am only 19 years old but I have seen the horrors of puppy mills. I volunteer at a Humane Society and it breaks my heart every time another puppy mill is shut down. I am happy that they are being closed but it means that I have to see what horrible conditions those dogs had to edure. It is so sad. Dogs kept in cages, and bred every time that they are in heat. Dogs that a person is using just for money. IT is a very important issue and maybe if it got out, we might be able to stop it.
Dear Oprah,
I believe that
anyone who can be
cruel to an animal
is very likely to be cruel to children as well. I
had a little pekingese for 14yrs. When he died 2 yrs. ago I felt as if I had lost a child. I still cry & I miss him so much. I have 2 cats now & I love & protect them the same way that I did my dog. It breaks my heart whem I think of so many dogs, puppies, cats, & kittens that are mistreated every day. PLEASE HELP STOP THIS TERRIBLE CRIME! YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
please show the public the difference between caring dog owners, some of whom breed their dogs occasionally... and those who breed indiscriminately and inhumanely. Our pets are so important to us... it's time to educate the general public!
There are so many people who don't know about puppy mills until they end up with a dog that has health or temperment problems. We really need to educate them, and help stop this cruelty.
Dear Oprah,
Puppy mills are such an atrocity, and they need to be stopped. Your show reaches so many people, which means that doing a feature on puppy mills will educate a large chunk of the public about what goes on at these places and what can be done to stop them. Please help give these animals a fighting chance at a healthy, happy life by doing a segment on puppy mills on your show. Thank you!
most of my life has been dedicated to animals, I am a vet tech/dog trainer/behaviorist/reput able hobby breeder/dog show enthusist. I have seen 1st hand for many years the peril of puppy mill dogs and their owners plight after purchasing such a dog. It's a sad state all the way around. The public needs alot of education/awareness, that there are other ways to purchase a heathy happy puppy, and put the puppy mills. Out of the puppy's for profit business/if the common pet person were to be more aware of where to look for a pet it would be so helpful. Please help Oprah
Please help stop this abuse of living creatures. No living, feeling animal should have to live like this. You have an enormous audience. Please help educate them on the horrors of puppy mills.Tens of thousands of animlas are put down each year because they could not find a home. Puppy mills are unnecessary. There are planety of adoptable animals available in shelters and breed rescues all over the country.
I thought puppy mills were being done away with. I see that they are still going strong and it sickens me. This should be stopped and you, Oprah, can help! Please!!! Your beautiful black cocker spaniel, if he could do so would ask you himself. Thank you so much for your consideration. We must help these poor innocent, defenseless creatures.
Dear Oprah,
My Chester and Champ thank you from the bottom of their puppy hearts for any and all help you can provide. My boys are two boxers from the same litter. (I hope) They are three years old now. We were told that they didnt come from a puppy mill. WE were lied to. Fourteen hundrend dollars later and lots of vet bills on top of that we found that both Chester and Champ had major medical issues. We overcame them with patients and love and lots of visits to my vet.My Champ almost died at 1 years old. It took two years to get answers concerning their medical issues. I still dont have an answer for the seizers they had .My boys still get seizers once in awhile but we know how to handle them now. My boys suffering is all due to the way they were brought into this world. All because of money. Not love for the breed or the animal. Its horrible and cruel. My wish would be to stop these people and shut them down and save the animals that are suffering.I could tell you horror stories of what my family went through, but it doesnt matter now. What matters is that You can make a difference. People listen to you. Please help our animals. If we dont fight for them no one else will. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Please Oprah! Have a show on the hideousness of puppy mills!! These dogs deserve better housing, socializations, care, love, training, and attention. I am sure God expects us humans to take better care of dogs then what goes on behind the closed doors of puppy mills. Many dogs have been rescued out of their inhumane confined lives to make wonderful pets with wonderful people who open their homes and hearts.
Oprah, please don't turn your back on these helpless animals. You have the power to change the plight of these dogs. Look into the mills and think of your dogs in a mill. Can you allow it to go on? Please help us.
One portion of one of your shows is all we ask. Many people are not aware of these puppy mills and you have a huge audience which in my eyes would benefit from this knowledge.
It's a terrible way for people to cash in. There are many impacts in various areas when people try to breed without proper qualifications! It's disgusting that they are allowed to run this type of "business". Not to mention inhumane.
I know of your love for animals and I pray you will use your wonderful presence and celbrity to expose the people responsible for the suffering of millions of animals day in and day out until they die horrible deaths never having known love and kindness. I beg of you, do this for the animals and those of us who hold them in the highest esteem. They, above all, deserve this.
Hi Oprah!
I'm really hoping that this petition will encourage you to focus a show on this quiet atrocity....not enough people know about this and we need help in getting the word out. Having you broach this topic on your show would help more than you could imagine....it would alleviate so much pain and suffering of these innocents. I sincerely hope that you will consider it and take Lori up on her offer to personally escort you to one of these "mills".
Please help these animals by exposing puppy mills. Everyone wants the cute puppy at the store, but most of us don't know where they came from. Please help, you will save so many lives.
As the foster mother of a puppy mill dog....her job was breed so she could make money. At the age of 15months she had had two litters and the second was 'not intentional'. The breeder took her to be neutered 4 days before she was to deliver! I recieved the dog (a great Pyrenees) and she weighed about 50#.....she now is at 77# and also being treated for heartworm. It is outrageous the way these animals are treated!
DOGS OFFER LOYALTY YOU CAN'T FIND IN PEOPLE. DON'T WE OWE 'HUMANS' BEST FRIEND' BETTER THAN A LIFE IN A PUPPY MILL? AND THE PUPPIES BROUGHT FORTH FROM SUCH CONDITIONS ARE INNOCENT VICTIMS OF BOTH CRUEL AND POOR BREEDING. A DOG WOULD GIVE ITS LIFE FOR YOU- WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT ON THEIR BEHALF. SHOW THE WORLD THAT DOG WELFARE IS AN IMPORTAN ISSUE
Dear Oprah -
Please consider exposing puppy mills. We humans domesticated dogs to be our companions. We are responsible for their care. If you have ever seen what the "parent" dogs must endure you would be rendered speechless. Can you imagine going throgh life with no kindness, no love, no happiness and no choice? Many of the offspring of puppy mills end up in sad situations too. Several yrs ago I met someone with a Boston Terrier that I knew they didn't really want but didn't want admit their lack of love for this animal. When I met the dog it was for me love at first sight! This poor kid's life hadn't been a very good one. The first owners only let him out of his crate to do his business - then back in the crate he went. The reason they gave was that the woman was allergic. He lived his first yr this way. Finally the owners gave him to someone they thought would take care of him. The second couple gave him some freedom, but atleast 8 hrs a day he was leashed to a table leg in their kitchen. He was given a few hrs freedom then back to being leashed to the table leg for the night. Somehow I talked the couple into letting him come to my house to spend weekends. Weekends stretched into 2 weeks at a time stays with me and eventually they gave him to me! The day they brought him to me for good I walked him around the house that he already knew and ran him through the fenced backyard. Finally I sat with him and explained to him that this was it for him - his final stop. I promised him love, freedom, kindness and safety. I promised he would never be hurt emotionally or physically and that he would die of old age here. It took about a yr for him to "blossom" but God it was wonderful to see! He was 3 yrs old when he finally came to me and was almost 6 when he had to be "put down" because of a carcinoma that spread throughout his stomach & intestines. I still cry at the loss of this beautiful, young boy wh
