It's about time that we all join together and stop the puppy mills. They do not care about the welfare of the dog but only the almighty dollar. Especially the big corporations that have stock in it!
In addition to the other comments, the long term health of puppies from puppy mills is a concern. Many times congenial defects are repeatedly bred into these dogs and they spend lives of misery being blind, deaf, not to mention organ defects. Please help.
After almost 10 years struggling to make a difference, the average person STILL does not know how these animals are treated. Please help us stop these cruel and greedy people.

I live in Pennsylvania, a state where the Amish and Mennonite's are well known for their puppy mills. I personally stumbled upon one a few years ago while visiting Lancaster. All I can say is it was disgusting and heartbreaking to see the conditions these dogs and puppies live in. They were piled floor to ceiling in cages in an outbuilding with no windows. These poor dogs never see the light of day. The puppies they brought out for us to see were terrified!! I also saw a Mennonite family bringing puppies to a local store to sell, and there were 3 large breed puppies stuffed into a fruit box (maybe 8x24x24 inches) with the top on it!! They could not move and then there was a second box on top of the first with even more puppies in it!! The people working in the store placed the puppies in the pen and they were lethargic, soaked from panting, and hiding in the corners of the pen. It was a disgusting site. People were there saying how cute these puppies were and I spoke right up and said "They just came from puppy mill...not a puppy you should even consider buying." I have never been so disgusted in all my life. The puppy mills should be exposed and shut down...What they do is cruel to these poor animals!!
We save people - or at least try to. More people need to care about animals. Puppy mills are heartless. And people who promote them are heartless, no matter what they say. I wouldn't trust these people with children. There is obviously something wrong with their line of thinking, lack of empathy, and lack of feelings. Animals have feelings, too. Please help stop this abomination.

anything you can do to stop the abuse of dogs forced to live in puppy mills would be great. There are enough animals in shelters and rescue organizations to make sure everyone can get a loveing companion.
DO MORE THAN ASK OPRAH's PEOPLE TO DO THIS SHOW. GIVE THEM IDEAS ON HOW TO DO IT!!! This type of show would be difficult to do well and difficult for viewers to watch (read that - not popular), but with effort, they could get the point across. Puppy mill people are guerilla-type criminals that move too quickly for law enforcement to keep up with.
I'm exhausted after a decade in animal rescue and I don't feel like I made a long-term difference. We need celebrities to help pass the word that excessive breeding needs to be stopped.
I live in Missouri, the puppy mill capitol ov the US. It is so hard to get these things shut down becuase they have such a strong force in the state. Maybe Oprah can expose what goes on. My neighbor who is a state representative tried several times to get legislation passed to do something and he got many threatning phone calls. He is still tryhing to get laws passed to help the dogs. Claire McCaskill would have done something had she been elected governor as she is very much anti puppy mill.
Puppmillers don't care about their puppies, their only generated to produce pups for profit, this means, no socialization, no vaccinations, no testing and last but not least they, the puppies, never experience a bond of love from a educated and caring breeder. Please consider educatating yoru viewrs. we are very passionate about this cause.

Please help, Oprah. So many people are still blind to the horrors of puppy (and kitten) mills. Your voice would be invaluable in the fight against this horrible practice.
Compassionate people need to band together and make a stand to improve life for all. This includes the treatment of animals. When people see animals mistreated, they believe it is okay to do the same to humans. There is no excuse for a lack of empathy or compassion. Let's begin with the animals and work our way up to improving life for all. Thanks for your help in making a change for all.
You've touched so many difficult issues...this is one of great importance. Educating more people on the atrocities could do so much for the well-being of so many!
I have been a dog trainer for 15 years and the damage I have seen done by puppy mills is beyond words. One cannot turn away from this, ever, once you have seen a dog that has been either produced from a puppy mill or been rescued from one. It stays with you forever.

If you can give away cars and tons of things at Christmas! Give these mosters a lesson! Help stop puppy mills and educated your followers on how to get a puppy how to rescue a puppy! You are such a big force! People listen! Give those puppies a voice so loud the earth will shake! We love your show!
The sad thing is, parents teach their children that they must have a puppy and not a dog. Everyone is so concerned with gettting a puppy. If there was less demand for infant animals, there would be less need for cruel puppy farms. I say we make selling puppies and kittens in pet shops illegal. This will go a long way in stopping the puppy mill trade.
Please do a show on puppy mills. I have two dogs from shelters and could not imagine anyone ever hurting one of them. They are just babies. Please speak for them.
You can do so very much to bring attention to the subject of puppy mills. Pleae condsider doing a segment on it during one of your shows. Of course, you would need excellent researchers and hard facts.
