I am a grass roots member of The Humane Society of the United States and have access to documented information which is heart-wrenching to say the least, on the horrible lives dogs and puppies live in these filthy, inhumane puppy farms. These are living,breathing,feeling animals who need voices and legisltion to protect them. It is a long uphill battle finding these places, exposing them and trying to obtain legal recourses to shut them down. The poor dogs and puppies live in their own excrement,and are given just enough food and water to stay alive, only for the purpose of breeding. They need medical attention and pet stores receive them and add to the problem of helping puppy mills to stay in business. OPRAH, surely this is a topic you can pursue and help these animals to freedom and a better life out of these puppy mills.
I live in Roanoke VA. and can put you in touch with staffers at the Human Society of the US in their DC and MD offices for more proof.
The amount of animals that end up in rescue (if they are lucky), due to poor genetics, breeders who no longer find them "monetarily beneficial" and even worse is growing at an alarming rate. Animals should not be forced to live in squalor - they need and deserve love.

The plight of these animals needs to be brought to the attention of this nation. I am the owner of a beautiful yorkie that was from a puppymill and I have had her just one year now. She is just beginning to let me touch her and to sleep close to me. She still will not let my daughters touch her. She is 12 years old and lived a life of a breeding animal for 11 years. Imagine your spaniels living in such conditions. It makes me sick to think what type of life she had prior to living with me. I love her so much. Please help us Oprah!

You can do a great service to expose the horrible conditions that these animals live in, just to amke someone rich off of another beings misery.
When breeding an animal (any animal) for the sake of profit is wrong. Especially when the health and well-being of the animals is in anyway jeopardized.
i help rescue unwanted animals and would love to see a time where people didn't see a need to continue to over breed pets but spay and neuter to control pet population. these pups at these mills have to under go horrible conditions! let's help stop their suffering!
Oprah takes such care and shows so much passion in what she does that she could be the one to make people see the puppymill problem and how bad it is for the poor dogs.

I own a puppy mill rescue who was bred over and over again in deplorable conditions. She only has 2 teeth because she lost the rest from malnutrition and was "debarked" so she cannot make any noise. Please help!!
I have read too many heartbreaking stories of puppys that have died and many that have been resucued, and don't make it because of the abuse they went through. This has to be outlawed!
I can never understand why the media ignores and dodges this issue while millions of unwanted animals are killed each year. People need to be HELD responsible for their pets health and happiness or they should not be able to own them.
I'de love to see Oprah do a show on this and find it a bit "odd" that with the love she has for her own dogs, she hasn't been willing to shed more light on this horrible business practice that causes such pain and suffering for so many. Very SAD.
Puppy mills are soo terrible and need to be stopped! The terror, abuse, and neglect these animals face is just horrible. I hope Oprah will see all of our concern and expose the evil people.
Ohio is a BIG puppy mill state. I am the former Director of the Wayne County Humane Society in Ohio. We need a lot of help to expose the horrible conditions those animals are forced to live under. In fact there is a puppy mill auction next weekend. I just got a flier!!
I defy anyone to look into the eyes of our beautiful children in fur coats sitting in a filthy cold wet cage on death row, simply there because they were born and be able to walk away. I know you could not either, please help!
