Dear Oprah -
I work for a veterinarian and I can't begin to tell you all of the sick puppies we see due to Puppy Mills. Unfortunately, many die due to the Parvo Virus. Please do something, this is inhumane.
Think about your puppies and all the unconditional love they give! Now think about all those mommas and puppies that don't have anyone to care about them and no one to let them share all their love!
There is so much potential for a show about puppy mills! Exposing the inhumanity of some breeders is very important, but on the positive side, increasing awareness on how to avoid purchasing a pet that has been bred in this fashion will help to make the practice less lucrative. Giving people tips on choosing the right pet for their family and encouraging people to adopt from shelters and rescues, and giving people tips on identifying reputable breeders can only help the situation.
I have have puppy mill dogs that were rescues as my own pets, as sad as it is to see them so dysfunctional from their previous life. PLEASE INFORM PEOPLE!!!!
Oprah, with your position and heart, you could really make a difference in this area. These puppymills bother me so bad that I lay awake at night thinking about these horrid places. When you can't sleep it is a horrible thing to get out of your mind. I have trouble blocking the images. There should be something that could be done about this. This precious little things never see grass, paws are sore from only standing in cages, just literally dying for love and attention.
PLEASE help! I have never seen such cruelty. God gave us these wonderful creatures to share our lives with and these people make them suffer beyond measure.
People magazine is lauding the success of a young teenage "entrepreneur" who is breeding dogs for profit in his home. He is a budding puppy miller. Please help to discourage this type of business. If only the public knew how many shelter dogs die..Puppies and purebred dogs alike are being killed daily. They are all available at rescues or shelters somewhere. There is no need for puppy mills! Please help spread the word, Oprah. It would be a tremendous help to the animals and also to those of us in rescue. We do get discouraged at the never ending stream of abuse and disregard for life. Thank you, Oprah. You speak and the world listens. We need your voice. Thank you for being there.
I do Great Dane Rescue, and if you could see the horrors we do from bad breeding, poor nutrition and atrocious living conditions at puppy mills, then you would not hesitate to expose them. Please help us.
Oprah, please consider doing a show about where puppies come from. You can not only expose the truth about puppy mills themselves, but also educate the public on how to find an ethical breeder, and how they can help animal rescue in their own communities. Thank you!

People will never learn if it isn't exposed. A lot of people watch her, it would be a good way to get the word out. She is so powerful and beautiful. Please any inhumane treatment and abuse should be exposed as much as possible, we have a big problem. But some of the blame has to go to the USDA. They say they enforce punishment on puppy mills, but they don't!! You should ask them about Daniel E Esh and C.C. Baird. PLease expose!
Oh Oprah this is something that all us working in rescue could sure use some help on. Until you experience the terror in a puppy's eyes that come from a puppy mill you just can't understand the horrific effects that these millers have on these innocent creatures all for the sake of the almighty dollar. Please please please help us Oprah.

With the compassion that I have seen you exhibit towards all things,wont you please consider airing a program directed toward Puppy Mills and the horror that these animals experience every day of their lives.
The public needs to be made aware of the horrific conditions that exist in these places.When they purchase their animals from pet shops and other locations that are supplied directly from Puppy Mills,they are only continuing the success of them.They are uniformed and we're hoping with your help they can be made aware of exactly where their new pet has come from and the conditions that exist there.If we can shut down but 1 Puppy Mill then this will be a success.

There are so many unwanted pets and these puppy mills are horrible. Help expose these people who hurt animals for profit. Hopefully, we can shut them down and help the already booming population of homeless pets find homes.
Ophra, please help stop puppymills. I work with a rescue organization and currently have 2 adopted dogs. My recent adopted dog has major issues and health issues and is a product of the puppymill enviornment. Puppymills must be stopped. Too many animals of all kinds are destroyed each year because of bad breeding practices.

I know you have a lot of important issues competing for your attention. Please consider doing a show regarding the inhumane treatment of pets that most people are simply not aware of. This show could have several aspects, such as: puppy mills where dogs live in terrible conditions, the strong link between animal abuse and child abuse, dog fighting and dogs that are bought as bait, and so on. These things continue partly because not enough people know about them. As I'm sure you know "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing!" Your voice is listened to and you and your staff know how to reach people. Please help!!! Not for us, but for those innocents who suffer silently. I'd be happy to help any way I can. Please do the show! SO many people are out of touch with this issue and just don't know how much of it goes on, it needs to be brought out in the open.
Please help us to expose this horrible crime. These poor babies do NOT deserve to be put through this. We need to put an end to this and the people that run puppy mills deserve to be put behind bars for torture. You are just the person to bring light to this issue. Please, please do what you can to stop the abuse. My little Scottie dog, Ceilidh, was confiscated from a puppy mill when she was 6 months old. She was covered in scabs and had no hair because of all the urine and feces she was forced to live in. I couldn't approach her for at least 3 months or else she would back up as far as she could and pee herself. I could go on about how pathetic this gorgeous little puppy was because of the horrendous treatment by this puppy mill owner but I think you know what these animals go through. Please, expose them and educate people about where to buy their purebred dogs.
Please help stop this abuse. I work at a shelter and see first hand the damage that is done to these dogs both physically and mentally when they have no human interaction, and only minimal food and water. After breeding, they are sometimes just left to starve to death, only because they can no longer breed.
Oprah is a voice that is well known, well heard & well respected.
I have seen her show expose many unknown stories and educate may people.
The topic of puppy mills is an important one as I find it is crucial for people to be aware of where these dogs come from.
When one buys a dog from some breeders, they may not know the whole story. And I feel they deserve to know.
It's important for everyone to have all the information about puppy mills so they can fully understand why the mass creation of living creatures for the use of selling to make $ when there is an enormous homeless pet issue is very important.
these puppy mills work to create these animals to make $ while others work their whole lives to save unwanted, homeless animals. What a counter-productive pattern.
We need to think about helping other living things, not making $ off of them.

Help shed some light on these practices. I know too many people who have purchased pups from pet stores who in turn are stocked via puppy mills. In both cases the dogs had serious confirmation problems. Heartbreaking for the owner and serious financial consequences. Oprah, you CAN HELP!
Please help to spread the word about the awful things associated with puppymills. The people that run them must be stopped and the animals need to be saved!! I know that you can get this message out there. I have fostered pups from a mill and the way they are taken care of is just not right. These are living creatures and should be treated with care, love and respect. Every pet should be able to have a family, food, vet care and a warm house to live in. Please, please, please help us out with this issue.

Until people are educated as to the true nature of puppy mills, nothing will be done. Most people do not know the difference between puppy mills and reputable breeders, nor are they aware of the severe pet overpopulation in this country (which could effectively be controlled if people would simply have there pets spayed or neutered.
Who else can stop them if not you..... Please help save these poor pups. Look at your Cockers and think if they were in a 3x3 cage and breed every 6 months and never loved........ Please do the show..

Not until you truly work with rescues and shelters do you realize the devistating effect of puppymills. Please make this one of your priorities.
Please put this on your show! The dog warden for the Pike County, He said there was nothing he could do. Really, he was helping them. Please tell people about this. I went there and heard a bunch of bad things and that my dog, Benny, was killed by the dog warden because he was mad and didn't want us to have it. I was so sad. I had my heart set on him. Also some of the puppies he got there was from a puppy mill. He tortured them, and said he killed a puppy because it had parvo, so he killed the others. He left dead dogs laying around in the back with no respect by even covering it all the way. I saaw my dog laying in the back covered with flies and worms. It was awful, I will never forgive that man. I will always remember that day and feel and see it the way I saw it.
I was thirteen when this happened. it was for my birthday gift because my favorite dog Buddy has passed away right before we were going to Hawaii. I could stop thinking about him. We almost didn't go, but we decided to go for him.
The continued existence of puppy mills needs to be stopped. Please help us Oprah.
Our family unknowingly purchased our labrador retriever from a puppy mill here in New Mexico. He has a heart mumor and I've heard other adoptions have encountered similar heatlh problems. These "breeders" aren't concerned about the health of these dogs but instead are more concerned about making money.
too many animal lovers are fooled into thinking they are getting a pet from a good breeder when in fact they are mass produced in deplorable conditions at puppymills. Please help educate the public. They trust you.
