I know the off leash policy makes the city a better place, the dogs better adjusted and friendlier, and the citizens healthier and happier. Please ratify those effects.
The parks are for public use, for everyone. More than half of NY's 8 million people own pets. The off leash hours are not very extensive for dog owners but they do allow us to share the park with non-pet owners. It wouldn't be at all fair to do away with them. If they do away with those off-leash hours the only fair way to share the park would be to put in a fenced-in off-leash dog-run in a particular area of the park.
My pups and I would be devastated if we could no longer enjoy offleash hours. We get along well with people and other animals and always clean up after ourselves. That is a lot more than we can say for a lot of the people who use the parks...
I believe the offleash policy has helped to rehabilitate my dog from a scared, shy stray that I found in the rescue to the vital, healthy, and socialized dog that I have now. I am very much in support of this petition.
this is important to the health of the animals, and the socializing of the owners. the runs are too restrctive for some dogs...my dog will not enter a dog run, because of too many past experiences with aggressive play
How dare they say that I am lazy if my dog is off leash. I do not smoke, socialize or whatever. I WATCH my dog constantly as he explores, enjoys and lives his life safely anad lovingly without negative persons labeling him or me.
I support the off leash laws that apply to our City Parks. Unless the alternative of a dog run can be established. Understanding that an argument can be made for limiting the leashing laws to designated times must be fair to all stakeholders we need to be sensitive to concerns of all citizens and make concessions that are equitable and demonstrate our democraticspirit.
