Running freely is a crucial aspect of good doggie health. It's unfortuanate that there is a community that so opposes the health and well-being of our beloved dogs.
It is vitally important for all well cared for New York dogs to have off-leash hours in New York City where they can run and play. I for one will leave the city if this lawsuit prevails.
because millions of us consider dogs a part of the fabric of our lives and believe that they, like children, need to exercise and socialize. The vast majority of us are responsible, poop picking-up citizens, and would appreciate not being excluded from the city's resources.
because my dog loves to run free and socialize with other dogs. He has become a calmer, happier and more sociable animal because of our morning visits to the off leash dog park.
We do not have a dog, but enjoy visiting Prospect Park as the off-leash hours are winding down. Owners and dogs are always courteous, and my kids adore the "dog parade."
- my dog is better socialized because she can run in Prospect Park, every morning, no matter the weather. Confined dogs, leashed or fenced, can become nervous dogs....
I think it is unfair for a small few to try and impose thier desires on the rest of us. We all live in this city and pay taxes which enable us to have public parks. Our pets should be able to enjoy them as well!
When dogs get the opportunity to "burn off" excess energy and socialize they get to "chill out" and become better adjusted animals.
Running off leash gives them the opportunity to become normal and well adjusted.
My dog would kill me if I didn't support this petition! I take her to Central Park every morning, no matter what the weather. She MUST be able to frolick off leash. It maintains her sanity - and mine!
I support this petitition because of the quality of life issue not only for dogs and their owners but also for the safety of others who share the park at off leash hours. I have personally witnessed off leash dogs help in 2 dangerous situations. Once in a purse snatching and once finding a hurt person that needed help. Neither of these 2 people who needed help were dog owners.Yet both these people were aided by off leash dogs. So as far as I can see everyone benefits.
One of the reasons I choose to live in NYC, very much a quality of life and quality of community issue, for both myslef and my dogs. The offleash community and privleges have enhanced my life greatly.
