I THINK WE NEED VICIOUS DOG LAWS THERE'S NO NEED TO HAVE BSL WHY PUNISH ALL PITBULLS AND BULLY BREEDS BECAUSE OF BAD OWNERS IT BEEN SAID ONCE BUT I'LL SAY IT AGAIN PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED.
Petitions such as this are like saying becuase of what your brother or other family member did.Your whole family is to be put to death. Prejedizm and slavery are supposed to be OVER?? Anyone that would vote for such a bill?? Should be sent strait to Iraq!!
Spend your money on animal cruelty and more SPCA officers to crack down on bad breeders, owners and pit fighters of all breed of dogs and that will make a difference in protecting the public. Demand breeders to have annual breeders licenses, make them pass a test for it like drivers licenses and punish the bad owners/breeders with heavy fines and banning them from owning a dog if fines do not stop them. Banning is not going to solve the problem and kids will still get bit by dogs, just by a different breed.
I am going to email a personal request for the thousand articles & legal cases used in his so called research. i don't believe one thought or effort was wasted on research or this ignorant legislator with his puffed up ego seeking attention would have found the facts are just as pitbull owners and canine professionals present them to be. Not all rescues kill pits- why is it no multiple deaths have occurred when adopted adult pits kill or maim members of theadopting family?
many rescued pits have suffered abuse at the hands of previous owners, yet one doesn't hear of these dogs attacking. And its a damn fact that ALL rescues would prohibit adopting pits if there were any record of a savage attack or even a few reported as menacing or threatening those who adopt pits.
i feel Mr paul wants to make a name for himself after seeing how notorious that snip of a man Bryant in Canada became.
It is not Right for You or anyone for that matter to tell me what Breed I can and cannot raise or have as a pet. It is not right. My prayers are with you Oklahoma I hope that this law doesnt pass
pitbulls should not be banned, there is no good reason for it. it is all about how the dog is raised. everyone that has a pit should not be punished because people do not know how to raise and or take care of there dog

Becouse of media hype pits have gotten a bad rap. I dont see them rushing to every dog bite out there. These dogs were held in high esteem years back Even a President had one. Please check on the American Pit bull before you condem them
Banning one specific breed is not the way to go, please make harsher punishments for the irresponsible dog owners not the dogs. Pit bulls are the most loyal and loving companion dogs that one could own, they love children and are eager to please, it is the people who raise these dogs into adults that make them who they are not the dogs themselves. I believe that people need to be more aware and more careful with raising their pets so that early signs of behavior issues can be reprimanded and prevent future issues with their dogs. I own 2 pit bulls and I love them dearly they are loving and caring and I couldn't as for more, my 2 daughters are 7 & 9 and they love these dogs to pieces and the dogs love them more. I as a parent would never leave my children unattended with ANY DOG and always teach my children appropriate ways to handle and care for the dogs. I also teach the dogs the appropriate ways to play with the children as well as other dogs I do this with discipline, dogs are like children and must be TAUGHT they cannot just learn to be productive canine citizens on their own and unattended throughout their lives. Please Punish the deed not the Breed, the breed is wonderful when properly raised, loved, trained and cared for.

They should give the owners of all breeds (because all breeds bite)tougher penalties in case something should happen that way only responsible pitbulls owners will be ready for the risk.
Punish the deed and not the breed! I can't say it any better than that. Why punish innocent owners and pets for irresponsible owners. Why should they be able to walk away with the crime that they helped happen. Don't take the easy way out and ban a whole breed of dogs, it won't stop there...there will still be irresponsible owners that train their dogs to fight, to bite and let run lose. It is preventable, do the right thing and punish the deed and not the breed.
I own 5 pitbulls, and anyone can just walk right up to them and put their hands on them, even little kids. I take EVERY Pitbull I own and go to PetsMart, Petco, etc. I dont thnk it is fair to ban the dog away from everyone because of one or a few bad dogs. ANYBODY can tell you that it is the way you raise the dog. PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED.

Totally inhumane & cruel and debastating for the dog owners that love a respect the breed and have them a big part of their family...concentrate on bigger issues: poverty, homeless people, hunger, education, child abuse, terrorism...those are the issues that our nation should be focused on, not making people's lives miserable...
I definitely think that it is the owner of the dog that turns them bad! If they are raised to be aggressive that is souly the owner of the dogs fault! Any dog can become aggresive towards people ANY DOG! Its all in how The owner of the dog raises them! I have been around Pits since i was 8 and they have never shown any type of agression towards me or my family, they were raised as family pets! Any dog can do the same damage as a pit bull, i think it is absurd to choose one breed in particular to ban when there are hundreds of breeds of dogs that attack people everyday, I think if you want to ban Pit bulls you might as well ban all other breeds of dogs as well! Personally you should punish the owner of the dog instead of the breed, it is the owners responsibility to care for and raise the dog properly, the dog only does what it is taught! Thanks, Chelsea

all i have to say is this how are you gonna ban something that used to represent your country take a look back at old war posters and youll see the american pit bull on them how can you turn your back on something like that this is supposed to be the land of the free but yet a soldier could be in another countrie fighting for his freedom only to come home and find out that the so called freedom he was fighting for has put his pit to sleep cause they banned the breed...now thats something to think about guys
As a board member of my local humane society and a dog rescuer of all breeds I can honestly say that I have not seen any difference in behavior of the pit bull breed from any other breed. I suggest that you talk to veternarins, dog handlers and animal control officers and reseach before you make this harsh disiscion. If you are making his choice from just listening to the media then you are not doing your job. Our media looks for pit bull attacks and makes sure they report on these. Recently a pit bull killed a young child and was reported on the news. Yet the night before this attack,, a Husky also killed a child yet no reports on the news were made and if a report on the news was made on this Husky mauling it did not get the coverage the pit bull mauling received. WHY IS THAT???
I assure you if you talk to people who deal with dogs on a daily basis such as vets or animal controlers, shelter works you will quickly find out that the Pit Bull breed is no different in their behavior than any other breed. You MUST do more research in this before making a this desicion. That is your job! If you are going by news reports and your own personal beleifs then you are doing the public and their animals a great wrong. I have dealt with just about every breed of dog while doing my job and none are any worse than the other. I have watch a Lad who we thought was just the most wonderful dog turn and try to bite off the face of a 6 year old girl. A Lab!!! Should we ban this breed. Think before you ban one breed as this ban will lead to another breed and then another. Thank you

My brother used to have a dog that was part pit bull. He was just a big baby and was very well trained. I agree that it is how the dog is trained, not the breed. There are other breeds out there that are just as mean if not meaner.
I used to think like that also. But in watching and learning my point of view has changed. IT IS THE OWNERS who teach these beautiful dogs to hate. and kill. Why not do something to these owners instead of the dogs...I know alot of good owners of pitbulls..Mr you need to do more research..
Has America come to his , blaming dogs for there problems, start holding these people accountable, when someone gets attacked by a Wild animal do you propose to wipe out that animal.Don't get me wrong I feel for the tragedies but most could have been avoided by the Human!!!! pet owner, and most of the time these attacks ar enot even by Pitbulls but mongrels!!!

I believe that it is the training in which makes pitbulls vicious. Just like shepards, massives, and dobermans. These dogs aren't born to kill but trained to do so. I believe that it is the owners responsibility to train there dog not to fight but only to protect our families. In closing i feel that the pitbull breed should live on and paople should respect the laws in having such dogs.
